Ignoring /run/user/X
We are running into an issue relating to snmpd and the temporary partitions
created in /run/user/ so any insight by someone with magical
net-snmp skills would be much appreciated.
Our monitoring app walks all our servers.
We modify /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf on all our servers to just have one line:
rocommunity ourcommnuityname monitor.ing.app.ip
This has worked just fine for almost 10 years.

Possible bug with latest 7.3 installer, md RAID1, and SATADOM.
I'm seeing a problem that I think maybe a bug with the mdraid software on the latest CentOS installer. I have a couple of new supermicro servers and each system has two innodisk 32GB SATADOM's that are experiencing the same issue. I used the latest CentOS-7-x86_64-1611 to install to the two SATADOM's a simple RAID1 for the root. The install goes just fine but when I boot off the new

home on nfs
Hi,
I have the home directory of a user on an nfs server and mount it on a
client. When the user logs in, they end up in the root directory rather
than in their actual home directory and need to cd into it.
The user can read and write to their home directory, so it kinda works
fine --- but only kinda. When the user starts emacs, some of the
settings in ~/.emacs are not applied, but the saved

home on nfs
There are seven fields on each line in a typical Linux "/etc/passwd" file.
For a line that looks like this:
root:x:0:0:root:/root:/bin/bash
1. root: Account username.
2. x: Placeholder for password information. The password is obtained from
the "/etc/shadow" file.
3. 0: User ID. Each user has a unique ID that identifies them on the
system. The root user is always referenced

Slightly OT : newsletters, mail formatting and netiquette
Look into mutipart and offer both html and plain text in the same email.
This allows the client to view it as they see fit.
If you do send html it has a much more restrictive implementation than html
and css for a webpage so study up on what you can and can't do.
Mailchimp has some great info about this.

Is there a reason you are not using the built in controller to RAID the
SATADOMs?
As I remember on SuperMicro there are two controllers. One for the SATADOMs
and another for the conventional disks.

CentOS 7 and Areca ARC-1883I SAS controller: JBOD or not to JBOD?
Hi Valeri,
Before you pull a drive you should check to make sure that doing so
won't kill the whole array.
MegaCli can help you prevent a storage disaster and can let you have more
insight into your RAID and the status of the virtual disks and the disks
than make up each array.
MegaCli will let you see the health and status of each drive. Does it have
media errors, is it in predictive
