Netscape profile scripts?
A while back there was a thread in which many people were discussing how
to make Netscape work with roaming profiles. There was some talk about
how this would require a script to modify the registry, etc. I just
talked to one of the NS programmers who said that the problem would be
fixed and even enhanced in a version 4.5. He didn't say whether the 4.5
code was going to be an internal or

R-beta: netscape/R interaction
Using netscape 4.03 (or 2.x or 3.x)/ R-0.62.1 with SPARC Solaris 2.4:
when netscape is running for help, graphics in R quit with "Color allocation
error". Closing netscape removes the problem. netscape does not interfere with
other X11 imaging programs including ghostscript and ImageMagick except that it
increases the contrast in my mailer windows slightly.

Netscape Profiles
There was a posting on Netscape Profiles mapped to network drives that I was
hoping someone could help me with. Other than setting the key for password
encryption, I've never messed with the NT registry keys.
I see this folder:
\Registry\Machine\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Netscape Navigator\Users =
But making this part, I could use some help:

this is how i do it...
after installing netscape on an nt workstation, set these registry keys:
\Registry\Machine\SOFTWARE\Netscape\Netscape Navigator\Users
=
CurrentUser = Default
Default
DirRoot = h:\.netscape
UserName =
EmailAddr =
then add something like this to your nt workstation logon script:

Message display corrupted or missing in Netscape 7.0 and Mozilla 1.3
Hi,
a few days ago, we switched our site from pop3 to imap. We are running
about 20 users with Netscape 7.0 on a FreeBSD-4.8 Server . I installed
dovecot 0.9.99.1 via the freebsd-ports collection, which was as easy as
make install and start dovecot. Our users mailboxes are still standart
mbox format in /var/mail/(user), as it is default in Freebsd.
Now we suffer from a realy ugly problem,

netscape to become freely redistributable
I presume by now that most everyone has heard that, starting later
this quarter with Netscape 5.0's developers' release, the Netscape
browser program and its source code will become freely
redistributable. They didn't say it would be GPL'd (GNU Public
License) but they said their source code would be available in the
spirit of the GPL.
Initially it bothered me that the

To best of my knowledge, this R feature dates from a time when
Netscape was essentially the only browser out there. It also had
a most useful feature: you could attach new request (resulting in
a new "frame" in X11 / window manager

help.start in R-1.7.0 with Netscape 7.0.
I'm experiencing a new and annoying phenomenon which seems to consist
of an unfortunate interaction between R-1.7.0 and netscape version 7.
When I invoke help.start(), a netscape window duly appears
with the browser pointed at the file .../R/doc/html/index.html
as one would hope and expect.
However if I then ask for help on a function, e.g.

Netscape/Mozilla: Windows plugins via Wine?
Many useful Netscape plugins don't come in Linux versions. Is it
possible to make my Linux copy of Netscape use Windows-compiled plugins?
If so, how?
