CentOS-4/beta/preview version immediate availability
.../pub/centos/4.2beta/isos/sparc/
There is ISOs and .torrents
Know yourself out and try it out please. If you have something less
than Ultra Sparc, you're out of luck with this as it's only targetted
for Ultra Sparcs (ie. 64bit hardware).
I've tested the installation to
- U10
- U30
- Netra T1405 (quad)
- Netra/X1
U30/UPA graphical installation didn't start, but it's something to be
fixed before actual release.
I'll post hte updates on tree that yum should use by default when i do
have that tree (as in place to push updates).
It's not even near perfect, but it's...

Sun Servers with UltraSparc Processors
Hi,
I'm just considering buying two Telecoms grade Sun Netra's to run a
lab-based VoIP solution. Not my immediate thoughts as a VoIP platform,
but from what I've heard, they can run Linux, and run it well.
Only thing is:
The Wiki and the Whitepaper just state that Asterisk is for the x86
architecture, but has been compiled to run on PPC architec...

asterisk 1.8 on Solaris/sparc
I've got the latest asterisk 1.8 running on a Netra X1 with Solaris 10 u10.
The system itself is happy and phone calls (between two parties) seem fine.
Unfortunately, when a caller listens to a Playback recording, there
seems to be moments of stutter - perhaps 1 second of stutter for every
10 seconds of Playback. The stutter is not consistent a...

request for hosting ( London, UK )
Hi Chaps,
A couple of Sun Netra t105 have been donated to the CentOS Project. The machines
are located in London and I was wondering if anyone in the area might be able to
host these machines for us ?
They come with 19" rack rails. We would need access to some - but not a whole
lot of - bandwidth. We plan on using these...

Problems booting into ZFS on recent stable/9
I had a sparc64 (Netra X1) running a stable/9 from late March 2013. Actually, the kernel may've been a bit newer than that as I was working with folks to diagnose and repair some Netra-X1 specific issues. But, ZFS worked fine. I have two pools, zroot as a RAID1 (using equally sized partitions at the front of two l...

hme0 interface going up/down (dhclient ?)
...s.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-stable/2013-June/073711.html
Everything was fine on 8.2-STABLE and older versions.
It was then upgraded directly to 9.0-STABLE and this is where I started having issues?.
I am currently running 9.1-STABLE (July 7th) and issue persists.
This is a Sun Netra T1 acting as my home gateway, hme0 is connected to a Cisco switch.
I am normally using DHCP to get an ip from my ISP.
For now, the only way it works is to set a static ip (I tried different dhclient options ... sync, etc).
hme1 and ath0 (AR5413) is serving internal network.
Thank y...

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object.
There are two RFEs filed that cover this:
http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6352014 :
''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct

Chris,

ZFS root clone problem
(for some reason I cannot find my original thread..so I''m reposting it)
I am trying to move my data off of a 40gb 3.5" drive to a 40gb 2.5" drive. This is in a Netra running Solaris 10.
Originally what I did was:
zpool attach -f rpool c0t0d0 c0t2d0.
Then I did an installboot on c0t2d0s0.
Didnt work. I was not able to boot from my second drive (c0t2d0).
I cannot remember my other commands but I ended up removing c0t2d0 from my pool. So here is how it look...

Compiling R-2.12.1 with gcc 3.4.6 on Sun Sparc Solaris 10
Dear R-HELP,
We are compiling R-2.12.1 for 64 bits onto a Sun Sparc machine below:
SunOS 5.10 Generic_142900-13 sun4u sparc SUNW,Netra-T12
The source was compiled successfully with "gcc version 3.4.6" by using the
default configuration and has produced R-2.12.1 in 32 bits.
Compiling R-2.12.1 for the 64 bits by configuring the config.site file as
follow:
CC="gcc -m64"
