Router Recommendations Please
Hello all,
We've discovered that VoIP (IAX2) + Citrix + Video is pegging the measly
CPU on the Netopia router our ISP provided. We've got 3Mb/3Mb and will
increase to 4/4 next year.
The Netopia simply breaks out our WAN IPs, and we've got a switch hooked up
to it on the inside (Actually I've got a QoS box in-between).

Netopia SDSL modem w/ IAX2 calls...
...once with no problems), nor a problem
within the network (other intranetwork traffic isn't affected by the call) -
the SDSL modem just stops sending/recieving all other trraffic when I get a
call via IAX - this includes web traffic, UDP packets for the for VPN, ftp,
etc... SDSL modem is a Netopia R7100-C. Anyone ever seen or heard of
anything like this??? Thanks for your patience with me, I'm doing a ton of
googling and testing but I can't seem to get any answers...
thanks,

same timeframe in March 2005...
The remote party hears my users fine, but my users get bad audio inbound
from the remote party...below are the specifics for each location:

call center - operators not using phone keys
Hi,
I'm considering setting up a small call centre, but I don't want
operators to need to use their phone keypads. Supposedly, all required
call functions (dialling, answering, transfer, on hold, hang up, etc),
should be done via their scripts (be is a web interface, curses or
whatnot) and not using either a regular phone, nor a gnome-phone type
interface.
Also, all this will be happen

GXP-2000 Audio Quality
...audio quality? I requested BellSouth to
upgrade their capacity but because of where they are located, the
best they can get is 900Kbps/256Kbps, so the upstream continues to be
the limiting factor.
I purchased a Dlink-1226G switch to allow me to control QoS on the
LAN. I also upgraded their Netopia DSL router to the latest firmware
which allows me to configure VLANs and DiffServ. All the computers
are connected to the PC port on the phone because there is no
available second wiring. Can anyone suggest how to configure the QoS
settings on the phones, the Dlink and the Netopia?

Client with tinc
Hi!
They have in my university a Cisco VPN solution. Unfortunatelly, if you
are cuban, irakian, iranian or a couple of other nationalities, you are
not able to use it (sic...).
I would like to study the possibility to install tinc as client. I've
read that "There is no real distinction between a server and a client in
tinc". Would tinc work as a client with the Cisco VPN? Of

GrandStream Budgetone Phone & DHCP & General Observations
...fault route dropped
Fix: Assign a static ip and problem is resolved. Upgrade to new firmware once it is released
It turn's out that these phones have a few issue in 1.0.3.81 firmware. The phone may stop transmitting packets if configured with DHCP, if DHCP is being provided by certain devices. Netopia routers have been confirmed in this category. It turns out that there is some differences btw the implementation of DHCP btw different vendor and this is causing the phone to loose it default route and stop transmitting packets approx 15mins after the phone receives it's lease after reboot. As a point of clarification: The setup that you're describing isn't

[kind of OT] Software Remote connect to MacOS ?
Hi
sorry for the slighty out of topic question but I''m sure someone here will
be able to answer.
Does anyone use some kind of remote connection to connect to MacOS ? I''m
thinking of using VNC but I''d love to hear from other (especially secure)
alternatives.
I''m just fond of textmate, I have a dell laptop which I''d like to use as a
terminal.

Two WiFi routers
...wo routers as Access Points,
turning off dhcp on them, etc.
I did actually try what has been suggested,
but it didn't seem to work,
which made me wonder if it was possible in principle.
However, I almost certainly made some mistake setting up
the second router/AP, which is actually an ancient Netopia router
from my ISP, whose manual says it can be used as an AP.
I see it with "arp -a" on my server,
but I've now noticed I don't see it on my Android phone,
or with "iwlist scan" on my laptop.
Apologies, I don't think this router/AP is working ...

Is Samba over an IPSec tunnel possible?
Hello,
I have set up an IPSec tunnel to create a VPN. It works well, I can
ping and telnet back and forth with no problems. I am, however,
struggling to get Samba to work.
The setup:
Samba 2.0.7 running on Sparc Solaris 2.6
The VPN tunnel is between a OpenBSD 2.7 server and a Netopia R9100
router. The tunnel is negotiated using IKE. The server running Samba
receives NetBIOS packets, I can see them using tcpdump. I have
formatted a capture and placed it on display at
http://grinder.perlmonk.org/tcpdump.html
I can see the differences between a successful connection and...

PRI Connected to definity errors
We have setup asterisk to handle our calls before between telco and an
Avaya definity. The PRI keeps locking up every so often.
In addition I keep getting this error when trying to call the avaya:
-- Channel 0/2, span 1 got hangup request, cause 102
-- Hungup 'Zap/2-1'
When that error happens I get a fast busy (congestion) tone.
Any one can point me in the right direction?
TIA

NetBIOS over ipsec using samba
I am sure someone has had success getting NetBIOS names to transfer from one
side of a VPN to the other, but I'm not that person (yet). I have read all
available documentation and newsgroups and have exhausted my patience. I
have a linux box running 2.4.21 kernel with Freeswan on each end of a VPN
(its working). I have "Arno's iptables" firewall installed on each end (It

Using TEQL with two ADSL connection
