I will try to port nss_wins to glibc.
I made some changes to smb.conf and follow the tests
described in Samba diagnosis
(www.samba.org/samba/docs/diagnosis.html)

Performance Problems (VisualStudio)
All,
Please help me defend Samba.
We are having major performance problems when using VisualStudio
to build projects. The source lives on the server, and the intermediate
files are dumped locally to try to speed things up.
One of the engineers downloaded a demo of NetManage/Chameleon NFS and
it was significantly faster. Here are some numbers:

Created a custom/minimal CentOS 5.x install ISO
...ivative ISO? Also,
I'm not talking about just rolling a new ISO, I can do that already, I
want to update the list of RPMs (not)available to the installer.
Thanks!
PS - I found this link, but it's from 2006. Otherwise it's in-line with
the kind of thing I want to do:

FW: Shorewall and selective access
Shoot!
Sorry Tom. I thought I replaced your e-mail address with the shorewall list
address.
I got it working!!!
I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. Pays to write down what I want
to accomplish versus flying by the seat mof my pants.
The ACCEPT+ is G R E A T! Took care of some of my issues along with removing
the redirect rule (yeah, yeah...I should have thought it over more

SuSe 9.1 startup issue
Tom,
I am NOT subscribed (yet). I dropped SuSeFirewall2 in favor of
shorewall to get past the configuration hurdles I as experiencing.
At the moment, when my SuSe 9.1 starts up, I can see shorewall processing
the rules, policies, etc. and I see no errors and then moves on with the
rest of the SuSe boot process .
However, no traffic passes through using the rules.
I run an iptables -L and I

samba v2.0.3/Solaris 2.5.1/HP-UX 11.0/Rational ClearCase v3.2.1
Hi -
I'm getting timouts trying to access us1.samba.org or I'd look through the
archives first.
Anyone currently supporting any versions of Rational's
ClearCase/samba/UNIX/NT?
We are currently running samba v2.0.3 on both HP-UX 11.0 (vob server) and
Solaris 2.5.1 (view server). Rational ClearCase v3.2.1 on the two UNIX and
NT Workstation 4 (some SP3, some SP4) We currently support

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
Hi,
I've got the same Problem. Not with WinMe but Win 98SE. But what I figured
out is,
that it doesn't realy apply to the Command.com rather to the Way the
BootImage was created.
It took me a long time to get my Hands on a Image with 2.8MB that's working.
Since creating one
my self, was allways failling. I downloaded the Bootutils 4.3 from 3com and
used the Imageedit tools.
With these

Re: WinME command.com
Hi..
Well i've tried each and every method to insert any winme command.com into
any bootable image and its really giving me problems....
I even further tested the same image with reinserting the 98 command.com and
the image worked just fine.. So acc to me the problem has to lie in me
command.com as there is no real mode dos in ME..
Also try using umbpci.sys and lowdma.sys for managing

CentOS 6 is a bear
Gotta say, centos has been tough to install and get working.
The anaconda installer makes large drive setups horridly tedious
(especially if reinstalling a lot).
Package selection seems a bit off...
I did a virtualization package, no custom..did not install qemu,
libvirt, and all attempts to do any virtualization failed due to
non-installed packages.
Then I decided to select all the
