...9;t a glibc version (although > it shouldn't be hard to port the Solaris version to >glibc). I will try to port nss_wins to glibc. Performance Problems (VisualStudio)
All, Please help me defend Samba. We are having major performance problems when using VisualStudio to build projects. The source lives on the server, and the intermediate files are dumped locally to try to speed things up. One of the engineers downloaded a demo of NetManage/Chameleon NFS and it was significantly faster. Here are some numbers: samba-1.9.18p8 samba-1.9.18p8 samba-2.0.3 ChameleonNFS No oplocks oplocks oplocks ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Project "A" 30...

Created a custom/minimal CentOS 5.x install ISO
...ivative ISO? Also, I'm not talking about just rolling a new ISO, I can do that already, I want to update the list of RPMs (not)available to the installer. Thanks! PS - I found this link, but it's from 2006. Otherwise it's in-line with the kind of thing I want to do: http://lateral.netmanagers.com.ar/stories/38.html -- Digimer E-Mail: linux at alteeve.com AN!Whitepapers: http://alteeve.com Node Assassin: http://nodeassassin.org

SuSe 9.1 startup issue
Tom, I am NOT subscribed (yet). I dropped SuSeFirewall2 in favor of shorewall to get past the configuration hurdles I as experiencing. At the moment, when my SuSe 9.1 starts up, I can see shorewall processing the rules, policies, etc. and I see no errors and then moves on with the rest of the SuSe boot process . However, no traffic passes through using the rules. I run an iptables -L and I

samba v2.0.3/Solaris 2.5.1/HP-UX 11.0/Rational ClearCase v3.2.1
...onal's ClearCase/samba/UNIX/NT? We are currently running samba v2.0.3 on both HP-UX 11.0 (vob server) and Solaris 2.5.1 (view server). Rational ClearCase v3.2.1 on the two UNIX and NT Workstation 4 (some SP3, some SP4) We currently support UNIX/NT interopration via both Hummingbird's and Netmanage's PC-NFS client software, but want to get rid of them both if we can. We already read the "ClearCase UNIX/Windows NT interoperation" manual at http://clearcase.rational.com. Any key build/compile or install/configuration issues for either samba, ClearCase or UNIX? Please reply to s...

Re: WinME command.com (was Re: Problems with Memdisk 2.04)
...nt so that other clients having slower access to there shares. OK I thought, let's give NFS a try. But since the normal TCP-Stack from MS is not all to make NFS Happy, I need to load another MS-Utility called sockets.exe, only ca. 330K Mem left for operations. So I tried (SUN's PC-NFS 5.1, Netmanages Versions) I found another inside of the SuSE distris. Since I only need the client Stuff I thought It can't be that bad. Boom it is. The reason is, why I'm using the client found on the SuSE distries, is that SUN's and NetMange NFS clients are also Server, and need those registrations...

CentOS 6 is a bear
Gotta say, centos has been tough to install and get working. The anaconda installer makes large drive setups horridly tedious (especially if reinstalling a lot). Package selection seems a bit off... I did a virtualization package, no custom..did not install qemu, libvirt, and all attempts to do any virtualization failed due to non-installed packages. Then I decided to select all the
