I have Samba version 3.0.2a-3mdk with an LDAP backend. Works great but I can't seem to get user manager for domains to work with it. I'm thinking that perhaps it might be a samba bug that has probably since been corrected. Can anyone validate this idea? As far as I understand Samba and domain logons, this means that a user will be able to log onto any server, with his workstation choosing a domain controller that is probably the closest/fastest etc. one. OK, I still have problems to run samba as PDC. I have followed the instructions from Samba By Examples chapter 6. Also I have configured dynamic dns + dhcp. But, I still doesn't work. How does the speed of SQL compare to the speed of LDAP? If the speeds are comparable, why bother with LDAP, which doesn't handle writes very well?
