Mailing list address harvested for spamming
...e's an extensive email etiquette post somewhere on the net
> explaining why setting 'reply-to' to the list is a bad idea.
Lots of posts around about this, all self serving :)
There may of course be an RFC floating around, but I admit to never
having bothered to look, because good netizens reply to list, lists are
public, they are for the masses - the membership - the subscriber base,
never seen the point in replying privately to a list post, since the
answer deprives the list membership of, the answer, so you avoid getting
1500 people ask the same damn question.

Update/upgrade paths?
Good afternoon, Netizens...
I have a number of 3.3 CentOS boxes that are quite a substantial distance
from my home office. Short of physically going to those sites with a fresh
set of CD's in hand, is there a method of remotely (via secure SSH)
updating not only the files but the distribution as well, say to 4.1? Can...

How to change letters after space into capital letters
What is the easiest way to change within vector of strings
each letter after a space into a capital letter?
E.g.:
c( "this is an element of the vector of strings", "second element" )
becomes:
c( "This Is An Element Of The Vector Of Strings", "Second Element" )
My reason to try to do this is to get more readable abbreviations.
(A suggestion would be to

mirror for debug_info repo
Hello all hope all is well.
We pull down via rsync from a Centos mirror for general updates/os/etc. I
don't see a mirror for debuginfo.centos.org::centos-debuginfo well
debuginfo.centos.org.
The banner for the site states you should only use this site if you plan to
be a public mirror. I have not checked every site on the centos mirror
list, checked 10 to 15 in the US, but the only one I found

help... can''t run ActiveRecord unit tests to test bug fix
I found a bug in ActiveRecord. Being a good netizen, I thought I
would write a test to illustrate the bug, fix it, and then submit a
patch to the maintainers.
However, I can''t run the AR tests. I followed the instructions in
RUNNING_UNIT_TESTS but it generates an error immediately

Winpopup help - will pay
Before I start I should say that I will pay $2000US to
get the information or code I seek.
I need code or protocol specs to be able to send
winpopup messages. It cannot be done via mail slots
because it has to work over the internet at large. If
you type in "net send x.x.x.x hello" on any windows nt
or xp machines it will send a winpopup using UDP ports

LDAP NULL BASE Search Access to Samba4
Recently, i scanned my samba4.1 server by Nessus (a vulnerability scanner
tool - http://www.tenable.com/products/nessus)
Nessus says that Samba4 is vulnerable to "LDAP NULL BASE Search Access" as
"The remote LDAP server may disclose sensitive information."
Further it says that - The remote LDAP server supports search requests with
a null, or empty, base object. This allows

A thank you and question about the cortado jar
I'm not sure this belongs on a developer list but I did not see a more
appropriate list.
First question about cortado jar.
I'm developing a php blog application (yes, yet another blog, I have my
reasons) that will allow embedding ogg files via the html 5 media tags
with fall back to cortado.
I'd rather not package the jar file with the app, instead preferring to
point to the jar

You are jumping to conclusions. Nobody pays me a single cent to package
R for Nix; I do that purely as a hobby.
