Software to test a LAN for possible VoIP Install
Aloha, Does anyone know of any opensource or inexpensive software that can test a network for a possible VoIP installation? I have seen Chariot by NetIQ, but it is very costly! I am envisioning two or three "client" devices that talk to a server device. Each client could simulate 1-100 VoIP phone calls. The server module would monitor the QOS, jitter, etc., and provide some kind of score. Aloha, Matt

GS BT102 dual ethernet port -bandwidth impact
...tual measured at 8.86 mbps. The second test (through the BT102) was conducted with a g711 conversation in progress. Audio quality was noticeably impacted presumably due to the half duplex support in the BT102. The BT102 was running sip v1.0.5.18 firmware. The bandwidth tester (older version of NetIQ's QCheck) sent one megabyte bursts of tcp traffic between the two endpoints using 1514 bytes packets. The tests were run purely to document throughput of the phone when used with an attached PC. Rich

Authenticating another domain
When I attempt to authenticate a user from another domain, I am seeing some strange issues. My winbindd.log shows that I am indeed already trusting the other domain. (I am a member of the na.uis.unisys.com domain.) However, when I try to gain access to a share where the username EU\INBLR-AUTH1 has access, I get prompted for a username and password over and over. Obviously, it can't

Re: RX dropped packets on guests subnets
...t is seen on both physical and virtual servers. I don't see it on any RHEL 5 or 6 servers. A strange observation: If I start tcpdump, the package drops stop. (Setting the NIC in promisc mode does not have any impact; it has to be tcpdump.) I suspect that it has to do with this: https://www.netiq.com/support/kb/doc.php?id=7007165 If this is the case, it's simply because recent kernels classify packets, and then there's nothing to worry about. - But Red Hat Support does not share that view. I have an open case with Red Hat Support about it; lots of stuff has been tried, but we hav...

RX dropped packets on guests subnets
Hello, I have first a question (and then may be a problem), that I have difficulties to understand and eventually to investigate. On each of my guests VM, I see constantly a RX dropped number increasing , Even if the VM does nothing ! ifconfig eth0: flags=4163<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet 192.168.100.15 netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 192.168.100.255

Assessing network quality
I am trying to trouble shoot one of my ISP's network and compare to my other ISPs offering. Although network 1 is reasonably fast and has low enough latency, voice quality is not good and the reason for this is not readily apparent using standard network tools. What tools can be used to assess the quality of the network in terms of it's suitability for voice? I am using ping, mtr,

Dear all: I am a new R-user and I have 2 questions about it. 1) I have a dataframe. Based on ?formulation? and ?subject?, a dataframe is split into 4 dataframes. The example is as follows. Moreover, I want to calculate ?test? value for these 4 dataframes. My question is that the ?test? values not correct and I do not know where the problem is. 2) There are 12 ?test? (y) values from

Handset recommendations
Seeking recommendations on handsets for use with Asterisk. I've been looking at the Aastra 480i CT because of its cordless handset and also the new Linksys SPA-942. Anyone using either one of these with comments on them? Any other thoughts on good reasonably priced handsets? This is for just a couple of people who work from home offices and will be connecting to an Asterisk server hosted
