Make error for R-devel package under linux
Hi,
I got an error while compiling the R-devel (R-2.5.0) package under
Redhat Linux, but the R-patch package (R-2.4.1) was compiled perfectly
fine. The following is what I got from the R-devel package downloaed on

Correct usage of NFS mounted Maildirs
Dovecot 1.0RC15 running on Fedora Core 5 kernel 2.6.18-1.2257.fc5smp.
A SLES10 server (kernel 2.6.16.21-0.8-smp) has the home directories on
an ext3 partition mounted with options (rw,acl,user_xattr,usrquota)
which is then exposed as an NFS mount with server side options
(rw,no_root_squash,no_acl,async). The home directories include Maildirs
to which postfix delivers.

change notify or something
Hello all,
I hope someone could help me to find some (either Samba or Windows XP) configuration settings which would solve the following problems we ar acurrently facing or identify the below described problem being a bug eventually.
We have a production Samba 3.5.1 with CTDB clustering on top of GPFS filesystem. Samba is a Windows domain member server serving a number of SMB shares.

Samba 4.10 member: SMB login no longer working
Overall domain architecture hasn't changed since my spring cleanup post
earlier (I did sort out the krb5 packages and logging settings, though).
To start the migration, I figured I'd first update the file servers,
since they're the least critical component. Upgrade 4.5 ? 4.8, 4.8 ?
4.9, 4.9 ? 4.10 seemed to work fine each step.
However, SMB logins either with smbclient or with

Linux domain member server: Win group does not map to UNIX group
...itical auth system
The PDC makes use of LDAP groups/users available to it without any
problem, and then i create corresponding tdbsam users for Windows access
and added mappings btwn LDAP and Windows domain groups with "net
groupmap add ntgroup".
The PDC also currently houses users' nethomes, which we share out.
Anything created by a user under Windows in their homedir has correct
user/group permissions under Linux. Nice.
However, on a domain member server sharing out production data, i am
unable to pick up the LDAP GID (UID is OK), so when viewed from the
Linux CLI, users' file...

You need to add the cifs/spn also to the AD and the keytab.

CentOS bootstrapper for chroot(2) environment
Hi,
just some script built along: Unattended install & run CentOS-4.1 just using
chroot(1). Mostly a surprise for me it was so easy to reach that goal.
It requires rpm(1) based host OS and it was tested only on Fedora Core 4.
I needed it to do only a bit customized CentOS kernel package rebuild.

Lace

XP "logon failure" but still logs on -- no roaming profile
I'm having a problem with roaming domains on Samba v3.0-alpha21. I've
connected the machine (watertown) to the domain (precidia) via the
server (griffon). I've logged on with my userid (bcwhite) and seen
my roaming profile get created on the server upon logoff. Future logons
grab the roaming profile and everything is fine.
However, _sometimes_ I get a window with the message:

Winbind error "Could not fetch our SID - did we join?"
We did, in fact, join mere seconds ago, but for some reason, winbind
still can't find itself. ADUC etc meanwhile have no trouble finding the
newly added computer account.
Wiping /var/{lib,cache}/samba/ (and the computer account) makes no
difference, the error persists.
How do I proceed?
