u32 and netfilter
Hi, All,
My understanding is u32 filter is very powerful filter and could do anything about IP header filtering, then why do we sometimes use netfilering in IPtables? One advantege I guess is in netfilering, there is usage counter? Are there other advantges using netfilter (such as delay, flexibility)? What is the disadvantages to us Netfilter?
In summary, what are the considerations to select u32 or netfilter as classifier for QoS?
Thanks,
Jame...

[LLVMdev] Question to Chris
Dear Prof.Adve and Bill,
I deeply appreciate your comments and concerns.
(Please forgive my late response. I've tried some more cases to make this issue)
As Prof.Adve mentioned, I need to explain exactly what my problem is, but I have no good ability that I can explain it in this plain text space.
For this reason, I made a .pdf file and linked it as follows:

PCA and Regression
Hello,
I am currently analyzing responses to questionnaires about general attitudes. I have performed a PCA on my data, and have retained two Principal Components. Now I would like to use the scores of both the principal comonents in a multiple regression. I would like to know if it makes sense to use the scores of one principal component to explain the variance in the scores of another principal

Closed ports and traffic shaping
First off, please excuse the cross post between lartc and netfiler,
the line between the two is very blurred here (at least for me)...
A thought just crossed my mind now while working on a new iptables/tc
collaboration for a project.
I use iptables to basically seal off a linux gateway, we''re very
restrictive on what users can do on the connection. For now I''m using

[LLVMdev] Question to Chris
Ok, here are a few suggestions and comments:
1) LLVM has the capabilities to do everything that you are trying to
re-implement.
2) Have you looked at the C backend? It recreates loops. It may not
create "for" loops but you can hack on it to do that.
3) The way you are converting out of SSA is wrong. You will suffer
from lost copies. You should look at using demotePHI(). see

Slow XP -> Samba 3 (but not FTP etc)
Dear All,
Sorry to repeat a question I've seen mentioned before, but have not been
able to find a solution to my specific instance.
I have an XP SP2 box (and one with no SP), and some Win2K boxes, and a Samba
server (3.0.9-2). The Win2K boxes can all copy files to the server at a
reasonable speed, but the XP boxes are all dreadfully slow. FTP from the XP
boxes is fine. The XP boxes can

Variables inside a for
Hi!
I had a database with some variables in sequence. Let me say: TX01, TX02,
TX03 and TX04.
But I need to run some regressions changing the variables... so:
variable <- paste("TX0", 1:4, sep="")
for(i in 1:4){
test[i] <- lm(variable[i] ~ INCOME, data=database)
}
But doesn't work... lm tries to find a variable inside database named
variable[i] ...
