When I was netcasting the LiftedRadio live gigs, I used jackd (sometimes jackdmp) and darkice on PowerMac towers to grab the audio and feed into IC-2.3.1 in various formats (mainly mp3 via LAME, and Ogg/Vorbis, never could get AAC working quite right, but it might be because mplayer was buggy in that area back then)....
