Hi all! I am from the Windows world and am trying to migrate to Linux and have done a fairly good job so far. My recent challenge is that I have built a Samba file/print server that works very well on my internal network but when I VPN into the network remotely I am unable to access the server via it's server name. It can resolve my_pdc's ip address using nmblookup and my_pdc's netbois name. I can use smbclient from linux_box to log into my_pdc and list the shares available. I am running tcpdump on my_pdc. ...ba server which is identical accept for a different workgroup, netbiosname, and processor. meanwhile, we set an test environment isolated from the other network -- just the server, the testing windows box and a switch -- and we still see the same symptoms. nbtstat -n shows duplicate records in the netbois, which we can't figure out how to remove. we did nbtstat -R and nbtstat -RR to no avail. any ideas?
