Serial console with pxelinux on Soekris net4501
Hello, I have a Soekris net4501, which I'm PXE booting using pxelinux. Everything seems to be working splendidly, except for the fact that I can't seem to make pxelinux understand use the net4501's serial console port correctly. The net4501 uses the serial console as its primary interface; I'm using a null mod...

Recent (6.02) PXELINUX on Soekris net4501
Dear all, I'm trying to boot a recent PXELINUX on a brand new Soekris net4501 (comBIOS 1.33). This combination appears to not work out of the box... I see much advice floating around from a few years ago, hinting that earlier versions of PXELINUX might have worked. However before resorting to archaeology I'd be interested in feedback from others who might have got throu...

And indeed pxelinux.0 goes much further than lpxelinux.0! I have a few issues yet to fix: * Undef symbol FAIL: __syslinux_debug_enabled (I must have done something wrong while building) * find proper fix for

Asterisk and Monwall - comments
Just got a net4501 board, installed cf card/Monowall. Does anyone have a monowall firewall with Asterisk behind it, any problems, can external SIP phones work? What firewall rules are you using? Chris Mason Int: (305) 704-7249 Fax: (815)301-9759

9.1 minimal ram requirements
Guys, I've heard about some absurd RAM requirements for 9.1, has anybody tested it? e.g. http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=36314 -- View this message in context: http://freebsd.1045724.n5.nabble.com/9-1-minimal-ram-requirements-tp5771583.html Sent from the freebsd-stable mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

2 isp feeds, 2 networks and 3 fw/routers
Hi, I''m seeking advice for the following setup. Shorewall 2.2.2, debian/sarge on Soekris net4501 boards. We have two ISP feeds (let''s call them ISP-1 and ISP-2) and get 8 static IPs with each feed. The plan is to have the publicly accessible servers sitting in the DMZ connected to ISP-1. Our local intranet (LOC) will be connected to ISP-2. There will be 3 firewall/routers: fw1 betwee...

malloc does not return null when out of memory
We have a little soekris box running freebsd that uses racoon for key management. It's used for setting up an ipsec tunnel. I noticed that one of these devices lost the tunnel this morning. I looked in the log and saw this Jul 23 01:37:57 m0n0wall /kernel: pid 80 (racoon), uid 0, was killed: out of swap space I reproduced this problem using this code. #include <stdlib.h> int

SIP devices with packet loss tolerance
Greetings list, Hoping someone might have experience with poorly-performing net connections and which devices work best over them. One of our clients has a number of employees that work from home, and are given a SIP phone to take with them and hook up to their broadband. For the most part, this works fine, but there are an increasing number where sound quality is poor ("chops" in and

How many MIPS for Vorbis Decoder?
Hello, I may be stupid, but I cannot find any data on how "expensive" the Vorbis Decoder is. Looking for an embedded solution I am interested in how many "MIPS" you need to decode a MONO audio stream at reasonable quality (44 kHz, approx. 100 kbps?) Can it be done in a microcontroller, or do I need ultra-expensive DSPs to do it? Thanks for hints Jens --- >8 ---- List
