VC2005 MMX patch.
Here is the patch with my changes. Most work went into the decoder. I just changed on the encoder if something was nessesary to build the library. You can find the patch here (quite big).. http://torus.untergrund.net/code/theora_mmx_vc2005.diff Please let me know if the encoder works without problems. I just did a very brief testing of it. The decoder has been tested against the test files from http://v2v.cc/~j...

why dovecot try to access the uses's home?
...chdir(/home/users/<username>) failed with uid 499: Permission denied ------------------------ i see the reason since each user has it's own uid and uid 499 can't access to the users home which has 0700 access right. but why dovecot would like to access the user's home? does it nessesary? since in this case one static uid can be usable or this uid has to be read (write?) access to all user's home. is there any usage of static uid in this case? yours. -- Levente "Si vis pacem para bellum!"

[PATCH] nsd-patch: fix segfault after renaming slave zone
...ereference a null pointer when trying to print zone name. I think the proper fix is to move the code that adds zone structure to the linked list at the very end of find_zone(). Attached patch fixes the issue described above. This patch is for nsd 3.2.11. 2.2.6 and printer questions
Hi @all, I have 2 questions about printer driver installation on w2k-client for a samba served printer: 1. If I want to install a driver on w2k workstation, I choose network printer and then can browse the network. If printers are served from a Nt/w2k-server, in my opinion it is not nessesary to double click the netbios name of the Nt/w2k-server to see the shared printers. In this case under the Workgroup-Name are all shared printers of all servers visible like - workgroupname \\server1\printer1 \\server2\printer1 + server1 + server2 If printers served from Samba it is ness...

...dding issue. But between float and int, why /not/ allow someone to do something insane like 96-bit audio? 20 years ago, we thought that 16 bit, or prehaps 24 bit, was the maximum we could do. Why would anyone want more than 24 bit? And yet, the issue was raised that 64-bit audio samples are nessesary. In another 20 years, will people be arguing that 128bit samples are nessesary? Or than 48bit is a good tradeoff between 32bit and 64bit? No - it does not increase complexity, nor does it impose any requirements on implementations, since instead of a 32-bit identifier we use the entire fir...

Mongrels 1.0.1 falling asleep w/ Rails 1.2
...his in the mailing list archives. Basically since Mongrel 1.0.1 I''ve had Mongrels fall asleep without any real cause. A deep sleep, actually more like a coma. The mongrel in question (I''m using a cluster of three) can not be revived. A cluster::stop, then cluster::start is nessesary. A ::restart would not help, but no ruby processes were left running. The comatose Mongrel''s pidfile would still be there though. I can find no apparent reason in the logs, but this situation did occur VERY frequently, most often overnight. I run a very agile site with lots of rest...

Questions on winelib
...uses the windows API),to linux. I have winelib (winemaker?) and have read through it's documentation but am still unsure what it's really for. Is it possable to use winelib to assist me in porting this engine from windows to linux,is that what it's for? If so,do I have to provide all nessesary window headers in order to use winemakers 'make' command. tris, tired and confused!

Samba server side printer driver, how?
...rrent setup works fine, but I am wondering How do I put windows clients drivers on my samba server to eliminate the need for users to choose printer drivers (and to have the windows cd around) when they add the samba shared printers? I am looking for help in creating the samba share whereupon the nessesary files could reside. And for generating the nessecary files, and putting them there. Also, I am wondering about the legality of the process: That is, since my users are residents at my dorm, they have their own private software, and the dorm which is running the server, doesnt have any windows lice...

idea for a new algorithm
Hello vorbis developer! I'm not very experienced in informatics, cause i'm only an audio engineer and sorry for my broken english but i have an idea... After the filterbank the maximum aplitude in each band decides about the nessesary bits, then the psychoacoustic model decides how much of the signal can be truncated without hearable noise. What do you think about quantising the remaining bits nonlinear with a logarithmic scale? This would share 25%. Nonlinear quantisation is used for instance in a-law or for the longplay-mode...

[Bug 1068] SFTP Protocol 4 request
...l Priority: P2 Component: sftp-server AssignedTo: bitbucket at mindrot.org ReportedBy: andrew at ir.perm.ru Your current SFTP protocol version is 3 which lacks many useful features. Would you, please, implement SFTP protocol version 4 (or 5)? It's absolutely nessesary because it supports UTF-8 file names encoding. ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee.

using a windows installation
First I would like to say how proud of and thankful to all the people who help out with wine. Its a great project and a lifesaver for everyone trying to get away from being tied to windows. With that being said ... (i just got photoshop 7 working yesterday so i'm still pretty elated) Ok. I am dual booting and have a win2k installation on another partition mounted at /mnt/win. It is ntfs so

Create masks set to 770 yet new files created as 750
...writeable = yes create mask = 2770 security mask = 2770 directory mask = 2770 directory security mask = 2770 I've also performed a chmod -R 2770 on the entire share dir. if I add force create mode = 2770 force directory mode = 2770 to each share the new files are created as 770. Is this nessesary? I thought the create masks would be sufficient. I dont want to use too many unessesary options on each share. If anyone can assist cleaning it up that would be very helpful. Strange files
...e00: or Ne01: or Ne04: and so on. The highest I have seen is Ne05: Once they are there the stay the same. If you look at them from the windows machine they look like Ne01~go. As far as I see they get written by the NT client (UID) and only if he looked in that directory from his machine. It is not nessesary to open a file. I am almost convince it is not a virus, we use Sophos with the latest updates and I do not see the files on the desktops. I loked on the SCO but I did not see them there as wel, only on the Samba machine. question: Did anybody see this before?? is it a Samba bug or a NT bug. Has i...

Is it possible to make rsync VMware split .vmdk's aware?
...ns: Sometimes, because of the defragment within the VM or Exchange, the disk layout changes so much that a split .vmdk file that was very little and now becomes filled with 2Gb data. As a result rsync has to transfer 2Gb of data for that .vmdk which takes a lot of time. In my opnion that's not nessesary because the data is probably available in another split .vmdk because it was moved across the virtual disk. My question: Is it possible to make an option in Rsync which reads out the vmdk config file for the split disks so it can search for known data across all the split .vmdk files within on...

WAV is usually little endian but there is also a (very rare) big endian version. AIFF is usually little endian but also supports big endian encoding. CAF, AU, IRCAM and a number of others support both endian-nesses equally. > or would it be reasonable > to settle
