Thanks very much for your answer.
I?m trying the function ?strtoi? but it fails to convert character to numeric after the command "set[index] <- strtoi(set[index])".

Is --link-dest supported on remote ssh side?
I'm trying to make backups with rsync with the --list-dest option.
My first backup is made like this:
rsync -azR --delete -e ssh --exclude-from=./exclude.lst /tmp/test
login@server:/tmp/backup/backup-nelly-2007-04-17-12-34-26/
Without touching any of the files which were backed up, I launch a new
backup with this command:
rsync -azR --delete -e ssh --exclude-from=./exclude.lst

Re: Nelly Moser Asao Codec
Has anyone ever successfully re-implemented a proprietary codec without
reverse engineering or decompiling? Or even with reverse engineering? I
imagine even if you had the exact code, getting the codebooks without
decompiling would be pretty tough.

question about string to boor?
...d tedious work, but I don't know how to transform string to
boor?
For example I used
i=1
paste("grp",i, sep="")
I only got "grp1" instead of grp1, which can't be manipulate using mean() or
other function.
I am not sure if I make myself clear...
THANKS!!!!
Nellie

Latin Hypercube Sampling when parameters are defined according to specific probability distributions
Thank you very much Rob for your answer. I have some difficulties to understand how to apply my agent-based model to each parameter combination generated by the LHS, in particular when parameters are defined by probability distributions. Indeed, I have multiple parameters in my model: parameters which are defined by a single value (like ?temperature", "pressure?) and parameters which are

I think you should take this conversation private or seek local
statistical expertise. This is about strategies for analysis, not
about programming in R.

bare-metal backup before update--options?
Hi all!
I'm a "nervous nellie", I have not yet updated my 7.5 desktop to 7.6
because (1) it has an Nvidia card, and (2) I've heard of problems
upgrading on top of software RAID (using RAID1 with 2 drives).
I need to upgrade it to stay secure, and I want to do a bare-metal backup
first (so I can put it all back as it n...

Question about permutation test
...which
represents the group. Then I use the function pt=perm.test(a,b...). There's
a p-value popped out. I want to see the histogram to know if it's correct.
But hist(pt) gave me nothing. So I am wondering what I can do and is this
procedure correct?
Thanks a lot. I am just a beginner btw.

Server Side AEC
Hi Jean-Marc,
Regarding you points:
1) Is it ok if the audio is encoded (using Nelly Moser ASAO) and sent to the client and decoded when it is recevied so the AEC is always performed on raw PCM16 8KHZ ?
2) The audio is moved in 32ms (512 byte) chunks and the reading and writing to the AEC code will be done by separate threads at regular 32 ms intervals.
3) Occasionaly audio is

Resample a matrix (table)
I have a matrix of values... for exemple the matrix could be 100 rows
and 50 columns...
I would like to resample the matrix to obtain a new matrix -> a 10x5 matrix
So i need to calculate a new value for every cell, i would like to use a
weightened mean to do this. I explain this thing better:
In the exemple the original matrix would be divided into 50
partial-matrix, for every partial-matrix
