rsync: network "bind interfaces only" command for rsync?
Hi,
Is there a network interface listen command for rsync
so that for a system with multiple network cards and
multiple IP addresses - rsync will only be visible
on a defined interface and defined IPs?
Like in samba?:
e.g.,
bind interfaces only = True
interfaces = eth0 193.xy.zz.aa 193.xy.zz.ab
Can't seem to find such a thing in the documentation.
Cheers,
Lachlan.

[Bug 747] host authentication requires RSA1 keys
...s file. However, the entry must have
an RSA1 key; any other key type will not work.
In the 'ssh' man page:
"If the server machine does not have the
client's host key in /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts, it can be stored
in $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts. The easiest way to do this is to con-
nect back to the client from the server machine using ssh; this
will automatically add the host key to $HOME/.ssh/known_hosts."
The key put in the user's known_hosts file is 'ssh-rsa', which will not work for
host based authentication in /etc/ssh/ssh_known_hosts.

ServerSide ACLs for -L type port forwarding
I have a need to add some server-side ACL functionality to the way ssh
handles port forwarding. For a first pass, I want to be able to
restrict -L port forwarding to localhost on the server only and I want
to be able to specify the ports on Server.
I was wondering if there would be any desire to incorporate said changes
back into the main development tree? If so, are there coding guildlines

External port forwarding control mechanism
...9;m looking for the best way to include an external decision mechanism into
OpenSSH, which allows it to restrict port forwarding only to destination
ports which are defined in a special external control file for the
authenticated session. The authenticated ssh user should only be allowed to
connect to this dedicated port to tunnel a VNC session through ssh. So the
server side has to decide if the received client data in the ssh channel
could be forwarded or not.
Does there already exist a solution for the current OpenSSH version?
Last year I read in a mailing list, that such behavior was i...

Some paths on the remote server may require authentication.
If so then you will receive a password prompt when you con-
nect. You can avoid the password prompt by setting the
environment variable RSYNC_PASSWORD to the password you want
to use or using the --password-file option. This may be use-
ful when scripting rsync.

I want rsync to run automatically every 6pm mon-sat.
