Formalize "revert for more design review" policy.
Recently there's been some friction over reversions (I can remember two
cases in recent memory). In both issues the general feel I got is that as a
community we should honor "revert for more design review" requests
unconditionally.
What do you guys think of adding something like this to DeveloperPolicy.rst
as an item at the end of the numbered list in

Problems running HL with todays wine snapshot
Hi,
I tried to get HL running with Wine, but some problems occured:
With fresh HL-Installation it keeps asking me for the HL-CD even if I
mounted it correctly. Drive setup of wine is correct (isn't complaining
about a missing drive)
I read that installing 1.1.0.8 helps, so I did, but with this patch HL is
not even starting, errormsg is

Status of SMTPUTF8?
I was wondering whether there is a roadmap for adding SMTPUTF8 support
to Dovecot?
My delivery pattern is Postfix -> Dovecot LMTP and it is choking on utf8
messages.
I might be able to volunteer some of my time as a developer.
Another thread about this seemed to go unanswered:

Re: I'd like to voice my concerns about The Sims 2
Forgive me if I am "necroing" this thread (it didn't seem TOO old). Does anyone have any news on this game?
As I said before, for any devs who may read this, I would really love to see this game work in Linux; anything you can do that would make this game more compatible with WINE would be appreciated.
Thank yo...

Authentication against Apple Open Directory (was: Re: LDAP authentication without Samba schema)
I am absolutely loathe to necro a thread like this so far in the future but
that's kind of the point here...
It's 2019 and as much as I've tried (everything in this thread and more...
like trying some weird trickery with pam_exec), I can't figure this out.
I have clients with huge and elaborate OD environments that I absolutely
would never have access to the terminal/desktop of,

COFF::IMAGE_REL_AMD64_REL32 relocation overflow when compiling for x86_64
Some time ago I posted here regarding a relocation overflow on Windows
(among other things), but the issue disappeared and so the thread got left.
I've started this new thread because a) I didn't want to necro the old one
and b) it felt like its own.
I've now encountered the issue again and am noting down all the information
I can get about it whilst it's happening.
The issues is

Status of SMTPUTF8?
I necro-bump this thread as I have the same problem since I switched to
LMTP from LDA (as the wiki recommend).
Any news to make dovecot LMTP postix compliant ?

Re: Need help with Talisman Online
I hope 'necroing' old-ish threads is ok on this forum...
I use Ubuntu 8.04 and am running the latest Wine binaries (added the repo as per instructions on Wine page, i'm running 1.1.0).
I'm trying to run Talisman Online, but getting the same error as littleMaster ("Startup engine [Ui] failed"...

Re: Spore fails to run on new Wine versions, plus fglrx issues
Sorry to necro, but I've switched to Gentoo and the same (or a similar) thing happens on wine 1.2, upon trying to launch from Steam:
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr (nil)
Also not sure what to attach as far as log files etc. as I know this line alone is pretty much worthless for anyone trying to help.
I might try filing a regression later.

Re: Gaming
This might be necro-posting but this is practically only place which show-up if one tries to search in Wine AppDB for "Battlefield 3" so it is worth to mention that at current state of Wine-1.3.31 any game/application using:
1. .NET Framework (http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=2586) higher then 2.0.
2. PunkBuster (http://www.evenbalance.com/)

COFF::IMAGE_REL_AMD64_REL32 relocation overflow when compiling for x86_64
Thanks Andy, helpful as always!
1 is a possibility, but not ideal for us.
Could you elaborate a little on 3? I don't really know what a jump stub is,
but am guessing it's a kind of "alternative symbol" which would just act as
a middle man to invoke the "real" symbol in the static library.
If that's the case, I can think of a way to implement it for specific
