S Programming
Dear all, I am thinking of writing my own functions in s-plus (or in R). I just know how to work with S-plus / R built-in functions. Therefore, I'm a beginner in S programming. I am looking for some on-line documentation that is well written about "Programming in S language" where control stuctures / loops / vectorization and necessery sequences of S programming are

Hello, copying idmap is fairly straightforward. 1) on your first DC (that one that has PDC FSMO, and is the source for rsync) create backup of idmap.ldb tdbbackup -s .bak /path/to/samba/private/idmap.ldb it will create idmap.ldb.bak 2) stop samba service on second DC 3) copy idmap.ldb.bak from first dc to second dc, lose the .bak suffix and just copy it over idmap.ldb on second dc 4)

Hello, Thanks for quick reply. File server config looks exactly like this, except more shares, all with same simple config. I know that "use defualt domain" isn't necessery, but it's not the issue for me right now. Why no dhclient in ignore.d.workstation?
hello logcheck team, is there a reason why no dhclient patterns are provided in ignore.d.workstation? in ignore.d.server there are all necessery pattern for dhclient, but a workstation typicaly uses dhcp an those messages reported by logcheck are annoying. are there any good reasons not to include dhclient patterns in ignore.d.workstation or are they simply missed? thank you for any feedback!

Because getfacl and setfacl were missing I downloaded the acltools from SGI and compiled debian binaries with "rules binary" and installed them (acl_2.0.9-1, libacl1_2.0.9-1 and acl-dev_2.0.9_1). The op tells us :        idmap config *:backend = tdb        idmap config *:range = 100-2000        # idmap config for domain MYDOMAIN        idmap config MYDOMAIN:backend = ad        idmap config MYDOMAIN:schema_mode = rfc2307        idmap config MYDOMAIN:range = 4000-99999 I dont know the OS here, but what happens if uid 100 is a linux system users. samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts
Ps. To overcome this problem is very simple ( AD or RID ) 1) setup the SHARE where you need user NT Authority\SYSTEM with acl_xattr:ignore system acls = yes 2) setup you share with Everyone full access.. ( If you dont like everyone, you need domain users/computers/guest and maybe even more ) 1! You must do this from within windows. ( message access denies when connection, you forgot

Thank everyone for input, It seems that using RID is the way to go. I just tried a few things: 1) - made group, assigned unix GID - added test PC to this group and set this group as "primary group" - added manually to test PC account "uidnumber" on server with samba getent passwd MYDOMAIN\\testpc$ returns nicely testpc$ with UID and GID numbers as set in

Hello, Wile getting this error, can You navigate to this folder via File Explorer in Windows or are You getting access denied error there? Also check which DC was used as logonserver, then check on this DC acl on this policy with "getfacl" and compare output of "getfacl" on the same policy, but on Your DC with PDC FSMO (the one that is the "source" for rsync

Drawbacks for RID, yes, multiple, but maybe it does not apply for you. Read the Advantages and Disadvantages https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Idmap_config_ad https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Idmap_config_rid My reason for NOT using RID on FILESERVER setups. Only one : File ownership of domain users and groups are lost, when the local ID mapping database corrupts. With Ad, i just remove and

samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts
Hello, I think I'm not explaining the issue correctly and I'm being misunderstood. I'll give an example: windows 7 machine PC1$ is running AD GPO startup script that forces it to read some files from network share hosted on the centos server with samba 4. The script will be run as windows SYSTEM user (that's the default behaviour of autostart scripts). But since SYSTEM is a

samba 4 ad member - idmap = ad for machine accounts
Hello, I have samba 4.5.10 file server as AD member (AD is also samba 4.5.10). I'm using unix extension for windows rsat to set UIDs for all users and on samba AD member i'd prefer to use idmap = ad to have consistent file permissions across multiple file servers. My issue is with machine accounts. RSAT extension doesn't allow for easy "uid" setting for machine
