Using memdisk to remotely flash BIOS
I am using memdisk to remotely flash the BIOS and other firmware. It works well
for most flash programs. After the flash I need to initialize the NIC to send a
signal to my management server that the flash is complete.
I am curious as to how others have solved this problem.
Thanks.

Network booting DOS with IPX support
...perience in this area, but I was hoping
I'd be able to use the UNDI/PXE stack as a universal driver, so that I
can load IPX on any computer with a PXE bootrom (i.e. no hardware
specific network drivers.) Has anyone tried this before? There seems
to be a bit of talk on Google about it (UNDI is NDIS2, NDIS to ODI
shim?!? etc.) but no real solutions given in the end (well none that I
could understand, anyway ;-))
If anyone has any ideas about doing this I'd be grateful if you could
share them!
Thanks,
Adam.

Making DOS Boot Disks for Samba
Thanks to several very helpful souls on this list we have been able to
replace ndis2 NIC drivers and boot successfully in DOS, map a Samba drive
... permitting us to use a DOS Ghost to build lab systems.
The guy who figured this stuff out last year has left the college and I
don't understand what protocols, or clients he used to support a DOS-Samba
connection. (I'ld be l...

Slow write time to samba 2.0.5a from DOS
...uired by the DOS-based program is
written to the share so another PC can carry out analysis on the data.
The two boxes are networked using two Netgear FA310TX 100MB cards and are
directly connected using a crossed cable. The Linux end is driven by the
tuplip driver while DOS is using the supplied NDIS2 driver under MSClient
3.0. The Linux end of the link reports no errors on transmission or
reception over an extended (>3 day) period.
The software has been configured and allows the sharing to occur. The
problem is the write speed from DOS to the samba-provided share - I am
seeing 64KB/s (kby...

blame-transfer protocol on PXE boot
hpa, etal,
pxelinux works great from a push of the reset button.
machine boots normally.
However, after i issue 'reboot' command, my box fails to find the tftp
server during reboot.
This looks to be happening before pxelinux has any chance to participate,
so it cannot be to blame.
Im seeking corroboration here before I go badgering the bios-provider

PXELINUX keeppxe mem footprint
Hi,
I want to use PXELINUX to load a DOS disk image which I currently use for
Win2K/XP unattended installs. I want to move away from reliance on specific
NDIS2 drivers and use the 3Com UNDIS3C driver instead. I have used this
successfully to start the MSClient, but the problem is that the UNDI and PXE
layer take about 90K of base memory, which means that WINNT.EXE has
insufficent memory to run after networking is started.
I have already performed all th...

Check the sample protocol.ini that comes with your vendors NDIS2 drivers.
