not working : valid users = @"DOM+USER"
Hi,
I have Samba 3.0.4 on Solaris 9, recent patches applied. Samba is
integrated in domain (security = domain). I have compiled and
configured winbind, but not pam and no ldap. Ncsd is stopped.
Winbind works OK, I can connect to share and users get mapped on-the-fly
to UNIX uids and gids in the ranges specified in smb.conf. My config is
included below with some tweaks to protect the innocent.

windows 7 samba domain
...with this error: the trust
relationship between this workstation and the primary domain failed, to
resolve I remove the client from domain and join again, the problem
reappears after a few days.
I read in a forum that could be a cache password problem related with
nscd, now i disabled service ncsd and enable winbind.
i have also modified add machine script with /usr/sbin/useradd -g
machines -c"client pc" -s /bin/false -M %u && nscd -i passwd && sleep 2s

suggestion - Password replication
Hi,
I would find it very useful if puppet were able to replicate passwords for
specified users from a master PC (the puppetmaster would do me fine, though
I suspect this may not suit everyone).
That would make changing passwords on my small Linux network a little easier.
cheers

CentOS 6: the ongoing saga
We'll ignore that the group name for KDE changed, and so, since we had it
on the same line as X, neither was installed.
However, more of an annoyance: to get nfs working, I had to install:
pam-krb5
ncsd
then fix /etc/init.d/autofs (when I did a service restart, it told me
automount was running, and did not stop it), then after some research,
found I had to manually start rpcbind, *then* I could run nfslock.
Any comments, folks? The admin I work with said he does not believe he had
to do some of t...

Samba PDC w/ LDAP & Mass Adding Users
Hi, I am running into a bit of a strange problem. I have a Perl script
that creates usernames for mass-adding users. This script used to use the
standard Linux 'adduser' command to add users to the system. I am now
switching everything over to LDAP, including Samba.
I have modified the custom Perl script to add users in bulk for
smbldap-tools.
system("smbldap_tools/smbldap-useradd -a

Winbind Kerberos Problem? - Getting Wrong User SID
...users connected to shares after setting ACL
permissions on the share (removing the Everyone group and adding
specific users). I have no problem with wbinfo, getent, or net join
commands. I can also kinit a user and use smbclient -k to connect to
windows shares from the samba server. I have removed ncsd from the
system to make sure it can't run. BTW, the user can connect if the share
is access via the IP address of the samba server which forces the
authentication back to NTLM (?) rather than using kerberos.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I cannot figure out where the
incorrect sid is...

FW: LDAP Problem
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Hash: SHA1
Hi Joseph,
I've resolved this problem for myself by changind the order of lookups :
$>cat /etc/nsswitch.conf
group: pgsql files
passwd: pgsql files
....
but it'd be a good idea to compile add the ncsd (nis caching daemon).
then the file will look like this
group: cache files pgsql
etc...
as far as I looked at the code I think the problem is that there is no
failback when doing login_get_lastlog on other nis records but I've
found solution for me and I prefer not to patch the code (hope it...

WINBIND on a VERY LARGE FOREST
Hi all!
I'm trying to setup a linux samba server as a domain member of a SINGLE FOREST MULTI DOMAINS.
The forest is a 2 servers acting as a global catalog.
Other domains are child domain with implicit trust with forest. I setup a linux server with samba as a domain member to work with squid, authenticating users and verify user's groups membership. I need to allow access to squid only to

Intermittent failed logon for one computer
Hello,
We have been using Samba 3.0.7 for almost a month now, and today marks
the second time that I see a machine (one out of twelve on our network"
that gives this error when I log in:
"The system cannot log you on to this domain because the system's
computer account in its primary domain is missing or the password on
that account is incorrect."

FreeBSD and Winbind
I'm hoping this is an easy question, but the way my day has gone I
seriously doubt it is going to be.
Today, I installed Samba 3.0.24 with winbind support on my FreeBSD 6.2
server. I am able to join my domain and get information concerning groups
and passwords from the domain controller (Windows 2003) without any
problem.
Where I have run into a problem is using getent to get a copy of the
