I got it (was: Cisco 7940 with asterisk)
Hi again,
I found chan_skinny and that seems to work pretty good. the SCCP one
filled out all the buttons really nice, but skinny seems to be
working.
How do I fill out the second line button on the phone with skinny.conf?
Thanks much!

dreaded Caller*ID failed checksum
Caller*ID used to work as some point, but I can't seem to get it going
these days. The card is a x101p. I've tried going up and down the
rxgain scale. Can the txgain effect it at all? When I plug in a phone
into the line with a splitter it can decode caller id with no problems.
Reading through the mailing list archives hasn't given me any
move clues. Any ideas?

accumulating orphaned processes
I'm getting orphaned processes on our mail servers. Some machines has
processes hanging around from a week ago. I'm running the current stable
of dovecot 2.1.15, but the problem has been happening for a while now. I
thought it would be good to report the issue.
I ran an strace on one of them and this is the output:

quota and dict
I have a question about using dict and quotas. I want dovecot to send
quota queries to a custom dict server over a socket. I'm doing this
because I can't do group quotas based on domain since a customer can
have each of their users associated with different domains under a
single account. I need to lookup the account ID and group based on that.
I'm worried putting everything in mysql

Need fast Maildir to mdbox conversion
I looked around the 'Net to see if there might be a custom program for
offline Maildir to mdbox conversion. So far I haven't turned up
anything. The problem for us is that the dsync program simply takes a
lot of time to convert mailboxes. I wonder if time could be saved with a
program that is optimized to convert mailboxes without the fancy locking
that dsync needs to do. Does have (or

that turns out to be the case, I may be forced to go ahead and get an
actual Digium card sooner than I anticipated in order to prove the

Cisco 7940 with asterisk
Hi all,
I've been playing around with a cisco 7940 phone. It seems to like
talking to Asterisk with the chan_sccp plugin. The only problem is that
it tries to call out to a SEPXXXXXXXXX.cnf.xml file to verify it's
configuration. I've found docs for SEP*.cnf files, but not .xml ones.
Does anyone have a .xml file for a 7940 (Skinny?) phone that I can start
with?

voiceglo.com and dtmf
Hello all,
I've been trying to get a simple PBX up and running with
asterisk. I decided to sign up with Voiceglo so I could have a PSTN
gateway. The problem is that I can't seem to get Asterisk to handle
dtmf decoding reliably. I tried inband and the rfc decoding. inband
tried to work and the rfc mode didn't do anything. By try to work I
mean that it rarely properly

I need some clarification on DTMF
Hello all,
I have a SIP provider that is doing the PSTN bridging for me
(voiceglo.com). I understand the inband, info, etc for DTMF on *my*
network, but what about what they're sending me? Is there anything that
could prevent them from sending me DTMF information? The Asterisk
system is currently NAT'd (no special rules, just a Linux router) and
incoming and outgoing calls work

Adtran 850 questions
I just wanted to ask about using Adtran boxes to support analog lines
into an Asterisk box. Right now x101p's are just too sensitive to RF
noise inside the PC. Going with an external chassis looks like a good,
albeit expensive option. It looks like I can use the Digium T1 card
into an Adtran 850. The Adtran 850 would need FXO cards. It would also
need the echo cancellation module. Is

ISDN BRITE support?
Hi all,
I found some message in the Digium list archives that discussed ISDN
BRITE support. There was also some discussion on 4:1 bitrate
conversion. I did some searching on the source code and didn't see any
reference to BRITE or bitrate conversion.
Does the current code properly pass a D-channel from a BRI port to a
DS0 channel on a channelized T1? BRITE seems pretty straight forward,

more dsync problems: Error: proxy client timed out
Hi all,
I'm using dsync for backups. I recently upgraded to 2.1.7 due to issues
with dsync mirror/backups. 2.1.7 fixed the issue with the guid conflict,
but now I'm seeing this error on a couple of mailboxes:
Error: proxy client timed out (waiting for output stream to flush, 0
bytes left)
If there are 0 bytes left, why is it trying to flush? I'm using this

feature request: pipe for custom quota dict queries
Just a followup to my previous post. I appears that a pipe for quota
queries via dict is not supported right now. Because of the way we group
things we need more flexibility. I'd like to propose that dovecot should
support quota queries just like userdb dict queries.
My expertise is not C, but I might try to poke around and see if I can
make something work.

dsync is SLOW compared to rsync
Hi all,
We are currently using snapshots and rsync to backup a large
mail server to a backup mail server. I have been looking into using
dsync to replace rsync in hopes that it would make backups more
efficient. I decided to test the performance using a single mailbox.
Unfortunately dsync seems to run much slower than rsync. Rsync was able
to sync the mailbox in 2 seconds. dsync took over

dsync backup gets stuck... fails
More dsync issues. We were running 2.1.7 and we updated to 2.1.9. Same
problem with both versions.
I'm getting an error 75 on about 40 boxes out of 1800. It is the same
list of boxes every time we use 'dsync backup' to backup the server.
dsync seems to stop communicating to the backup box (over ssh). strace
just shows it sitting at a epoll_wait. Once the program quits (times
out?), a

100 analog phones?? HOWTO?
Does anyone know the best approach to take for handling 100 analog
phones? It seems to me that a chassis like Carrier Access or Adtran
would work. The chassis would do much of the hard work of converting
the analog sound to data.
Any recommendations on hardware for the chassis?
