The explanatory variables used in this analysis are: the age of the policyholder (age), the year of registration (reg) and a measure of the policyholders claim history called the no claim discount (ncd). Define p(i,j,k) as the probability of a policyholder in level i of age, level j of reg and level k of ncd making a claim (for i= 1 (age= 17-22), 2 (23-26), 3 (27-65), 4 (66-80) ; j=1 (registration after 1964), 2 (63-64), 3 (60-62), 4 (earlier than 1960) and ncd= 1 (1-1 claims), 2...

scan() with "what"

Copied files filled with zeros
I'm running Samba 2.0.0 on Solaris 2.5 and 2.6. I've had a report that a user on a Wincenter machine (NT4 + Windows Terminal Server + Citrix Metaframe + NCD stuff) dragged a Word document from his NT fileserver onto one of my Samba servers and the result was filled with zeros. We have been able to reproduce the problem from annother account on the Wincenter machine, but cannot make it happen from an NT5 beta2 machine. I don't have a plain NT4 mac...

samba and Citrix Metaframe
Hi, Is it possible to use samba with Citrix Metaframe to allow Unix users running Windows applications and having access to their unix directories? I'd like to know if there is no problem of authentication and permissions. Thanks in advance Benoit.

observations on nt smb support = no
We use Samba 2.0.6 as server, the clients are about 10 NCD WinCenter (NT 3.51 multiuser, WinCenter 3.0.34 based on Citrix WinFrame 1.6) machines with about 70 concurrent users each and several WinCenter (as above) and NT Terminal Server (NT 4.0 multiuser with MetaFrame/WinCenter (X11 addon)) machines. The 2.0.6 smb.conf manpage says: nt smb suppor...

Samba ADS: kerberos logins seems to give users different rights/group memberships

Note 1: nsswitch.conf is configured correctly and works 100% (tested with 'id peter' and 'getent passwd/group -s winbindd') No ncd is running! Note 2: This behaviour only applies to a few users. Remote/Local X differences
"Local" is a Debian SID laptop. This is the machine on which Wine runs-- XFree86 4.03. "Remote" is a Sunray, so it is essentially a Sun Xsun Xserver. I have tried this on an 8-bit NCD X server, though, with the same results. This is a followup to a post ("X11: Oracle Forms runs fine locally, but not remotely") from 6/20. To sum up: I have an application using Oracle Forms. The application runs beautifully on the local Linux box; but the same application displaye...

Process per share control.
A long time ago, and I could be mistaken, I thought samba could be configured so that instead of a smbd process per user/machine it would spawn a process per share/user/machine. If it still can, could someone point me in the right direction? Thanks! Weldon Godfrey Sr. Systems Specialist Science Applications International Corporation

help.start in R-1.7.0 with Netscape 7.0.
I'm experiencing a new and annoying phenomenon which seems to consist of an unfortunate interaction between R-1.7.0 and netscape version 7. When I invoke help.start(), a netscape window duly appears with the browser pointed at the file .../R/doc/html/index.html as one would hope and expect. However if I then ask for help on a function, e.g. > help(glm) the help does NOT get displayed
