gpxelinux questions
Hi All,
I've been enjoying playing with gpxe and gpxelinux, however I have a
few questions that I'd love to get some answers for...
1) Will gpxelinux support chain loading of other NBPs without hanging
or is this already resolved ?
2) Why does gpxelinux take much longer than pxelinux to enumerate the
UUID, MAC address, then hex IP address chop ?
3) Can gpxelinux load gpxe scripts at all ?
4) How does gpxelinux really work, It looks like a gpxelinux is a
slightly modified versio...

It can't. We don't want c32 modules to switch modes (they can do it
themselves), and they may not process the "quiet" option.
However, NBPs (.0's) definitely should do the mode reset, just like
kernels without the "quiet" option.

Mr. Haus, I would very much like to know about your experience

gpxelinux 3.70pre7 - keeppxe problem
...ted from a PHP
script.
I did find that my dos boot disks using keeppxe and the 3com undi driver
no longer work and give the errors 'Set Packet Filter failed' and
'Error: 255 Unable to Bind'. I'm not sure if keeppxe problem I'm
observing is related to the chainloading other NBPs from gpxelinux.0
problem which isn't working yet according to the announcment or if it's
a separate issue. If it is a separate issue and you would like something
from my test system let me know and I'll try to get it to you. Thanks
again for all the hard work.

SYSLINUX 3.70-pre7: a very special prerelease
...like using a CGI or PHP script for the configuration file.
SAN booting (iSCSI or AoE), which is supported by gPXE, can be invoked
via a small (not yet written) comboot module, which is only necessary in
order to pass the appropriate command down to gPXE.
Note that currently chainloading other NBPs from gpxelinux.0 is broken.
This will be fixed.
In order to invoke the new functionality, you need a filename or
filename prefix which is a URL, identified by the character sequence.
In my test setup, I simply use DHCP option 209 (pxelinux.pathprefix) to
redirect loading to my http server....

Yes, please. To make this dependent *only* on the configuration of

Netboot and PXELINUX
Hi all,
I have just been informed that Netboot (http://netboot.sourceforge.net/)
can be used to produce PXE boot ROMs. I wonder if anyone has tried
running this combination with PXELINUX? This is obviously a really big
deal... :)

Questions re PXELINUX
I have been using PXELINUX for a while and appreciate all you guys are doing!
I have a couple of questions re PXELINUX:
1. I am experiencing problems with the LOCALBOOT statement on an IBM x3650. IBM mentions the following:
http://www-947.ibm.com/support/entry/portal/docdisplay?lndocid=MIGR-5084755
I am using PXELINUX 4.04. Is this problem still attributed to some bug in PXELINUX? Right now I

[PATCH 0/1] EFI PXE DHCP/proxyDHCP issues fix
...packet. the packets are:
DhcpAck,ProxyOffer,PxeReply.
DhcpAck: usually includes only the DHCP parameters
ProxyOffer: includes redirection parameters (PXE stuff)
PxeReply: is populated after receiving an answer when using PXE menu capabilities.
Tianocore copies PxeReply to ProxyOffer because many NBPs do not parse PxeReply
This is not really new stuff BIOS based PXE was also having several packets cached...

SYSLINUX 3.70 released
Hello everyone,
I have just released SYSLINUX 3.70, which is the first version which
includes gPXE for support of non-TFTP network scripts, as well as a
large number of other enhancments. gPXE support is still somewhat
experimental - in particular it still doesn't support chaining other NBPs.
Very special thanks to:
- rPath, Inc, my employer, for the uncountable hours I've spent
to develop this version of SYSLINUX.
- The Etherboot Project, for gPXE.
- Everyone who has tested and submitted patches and comments.
The changes:

[PATCH 0/1] EFI PXE DHCP/proxyDHCP issues fix
The UEFI PXE boot DHCP/proxyDHCP issue is very timely. I am working on
that very topic now.
Our scenario is a manufacturing environment set up to format and
load/install custom hard drive images in our systems.
Our environment:
This is a manufacturing floor setup where we build computers for our
customers. We have two servers and a client in the mix, all connected via
Ethernet (IPv4 only).
