3.0.7 - NT Create AndX Response, Error:, QUERY_PATH_INFO, Error:
...the 23 second hang. I am
running 3.0.7. Does anybody have any idea what could be happening?
Note the 3 second delay between packet 27 & 28. It also appears that XP
does some dns caching that is persistant during shutdown and restart. I have
the laptop at home right now, but you can see the NBNS packets still looking
for "Nemesis" and "Bonza" which are two samba servers at work. Go figure??
Any ideas what is happening or how to fix it??

why is my "nmbd" confused about network interfaces?
The only thing related to 'addresses' in my
/etc/samba/smb.conf file is a "hosts allow":
hosts allow = 192.168.3.0/24 127.1
I'm going to ignore the 'local hosts case, as if I solve the other,
the localhost case may get solved by inference.
I thought the 'hosts allow' would allow any host on the
local 192.168.3.0/24 subnet.
The hosts have no problems

What is it looking for and how do I config my samba server to answer?
Maybe unrelated question...:
I've also been getting queries for my Windows Domain "BLISS" (irony)
at my local subdomain "sc.tlinx.org" ('sc' being internal to my net in
SantaCruz). So "NBNS BLISS.sc.tlinx.org". Was there some requirement I
missed to have my domain-name ALSO be a Hostname somewhere? (Because
Domain-Server name has never been the server name in my situation).
So I get alot of NBNS lookups (also unanswered) for
BLISS.sc.tlinx.org, but I suspect it's likely o...

[Bridge] Ubuntu: network bridging between wireless and wired connection fails
Hi everybody,
First of all, let me say that I searched a lot on the internet. I
spent several hours sitting after my notebook, but I can't configure
my network bridge in Ubuntu. I'm really desperate, so I hope somebody
can point me out what I'm doing

Our server is multihomed, and I've been finding that sometimes clients
doing a NetBIOS Name Service (NBNS) query to our samba server sometimes
end up getting and using one of the non-primary addresses. I used
ethereal to look at the actual NBNS response from the server and notice
that all of its ip addresses are listed, with the primary one first but
all the others as well. I guess the client someh...

Problem of access samba from rh8
Hello,
I already setup a samba server as PDC for windows client to logon and
working fine now with the following config:

- samba 2.2.7a
Then I try to access the samba share from Redhat 8, I can use smbclient to
access the share without problem but I can't access the share with "KDE's

I thought I was doing well with samba. I have numerous samba / gnu-Linux
networks running well. Now I have one customer that wants to do something

like such a simple request but I cannot for the life of me get it to work on
my test network.

NMBD Not Starting
I moved an entire RH 6.2 server from one CPU to a new one using a tape
backup/restore. Everything from the old server is working on the new server,
but when SysV starts up smb, the nmbd daemon (2.0.6) exits with an error:
create_subnets: No local interfaces!
eth0 has already started according to the logs and console. Any ideas?
Thanks.

smbclient sending ICMP unreachable destination host(administratively prohibited)
I'm using fedora 9, 64-bit edition, on a machine acting as a client. I've installed samba-client 3.2.0 from a binary package. I amn't running the server portion of samba(smbd, nmbd, or even winbindd).
I'm trying to access shares on another windows machine, on the same network 192.168.1.0/24. Both machines, the client and the server, are using DHCP to acquire IP addresses.

NT4.0 + SP3 reports can't NetServerEnum from DMB using Samba
...Browser for domain
Seem to be registered and found when one of the backup browsers wants
to find the master (to issue the NetServerEnum2).
The backup browsers (also BDCs) seem to be able to use the network
successfully to replicate the domain data base.
It does seem to be a fault with Samba (the NBNS) since when the NT
backup browsers are configured to not use the NBNS and use broadcast
for name maintenance, all is well.
The errors in the NT logs are corroborated by browmon. Browmon
generally cannot locate the master browser for the domain when it runs
on a box only configured with the NetBT t...
