NAT'd Snom360 problems
Here is my setup:
* is on a NAT'd subnet, but also has an externally routable IP address.
I have a Snom360 that's external to this and behind NAT.
The Snom360 can call other phones in * subnet (by their internal extension
numbers) and voice is transmitted fine; however, when I attempt to check
voicemail (or any * voice...

Nested NAT'd subnet
Hey all, quick question:
I have a server running Samba 2.2.3a which has two NAT'd private domains
behind it (192.168.1.0/24 and 192.168.88.0/24). The .88.0 subdomain has
a wireless AP/router on it (192.168.88.254) which also does NAT (the
wireless machines are on 192.168.92.0/24). The router has the IP of the
second internal NIC as its gateway; the wireless machines...

Working Xten, Asterisk, double-NAT configs out there?
All,
I have my * box NAT'd with all ports forwarded that are SIP related
(based on Wiki). I also have nat=yes, externalip=WAN address of

I have my Xten soft phone on a PC which is NAT'd behind firewall with
ports forwarded. I have also followed instructions on Wiki for Xten...

Sip UA behind NAT
I am trying to make 1 soft SIP UA behind NAT connect to a public hard
CISCO UA via a public asterisk server. The CISCO UA can hear the voice
from the SIP UA but not vice versa. I do set nat to yes for the soft
phone. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Below is my sip.conf

Working: TFTPd for NAT'd Cisco 7960 and ATA-186
For anyone who is interested, I have a working tftpd (modified wvtftpd)
capable of serving configuration, dialplans, and ringtones to Cisco
7960/7940 and ATA-186 devices that are located behind NAT firewalls. As
TFTP is not a very firewall/NAT friendly protocol, I had to break some
rules to get it to work with these cisco devices. It might cause
problems for other TFTP clients, but it works with the cisco's which I
needed.. Your tftp server can also be located behind a NAT or firewall
if...

Issues regarding multiple NAT'd ssh servers
Greetings-
I recall mention of this bug at some tim elast year, but do not know
if
anything yet has been done to address it or if it is in any plans...
I have multiple servers behind a f/w. I have ports forwarded on the f/w
which map
to port 22 on the various servers.
i.e.
ssh -p1001 FIREWALL_IP ---> NON_ROUTEABLE:22
This is fine, but the hostkey negotiation obviously fails...

Native bridging to SIP endpoints on the same NAT'd network
Hi,
I have the following setup:
Asterisk <-> Nat <-> Internet <-> Nat <-> 2 x SIP endpoints
With directmedia=no I can make a call between the two SIP endpoints; the RTP
stream being passed through the Asterisk box.
Obviously, this is sub-optimal. I attempted to enable bridging of the call
between the 2 endpoints directly, give...

NAT connections STUN etc
Hi all,
Love tinc by the way. It's a great VPN.
I'm having issues with 2 nodes always talking through an intermediate
node. My set up is a VPS in a cloud somewhere that's running tinc and 2
other nodes - one a roaming laptop (always NAT'd) and the other a server
behind a dynamic IP home broadband connection (Not NAT'd but
firewalled). Neither the laptop nor the home server have any firewall
rules that accept incoming traffic for tinc.
They can all talk to each other, but it always routes the traffic via
the VPS which...

Asterisk & SIP
...'m trying to do: I need to setup the PBX to answer
on multiple 'lines' (I use that word with trepidation as I'm not sure if
it's the right term in the absence of modems & actual lines) and play a
brief message identifying itself as the 'line' connected to. The originator
of that call will be a softphone.
Before rolling this out to my lab, I'm trying to work out the proper config
on my laptop. Therein I have Windows XP w/ VMware - Red Hat 7.3 is running
in a VMware session. My connection to the net is NAT'd. My internal IPs
for both XP & Linux are...

Grandstream GXP2000 Loses Connectivity
I have 20-30 GXP2000's connected to * over a T1 line. Neither end is
NAT'd and there is plenty of bandwidth available over the line. The
GXP's are 1.1.5.15, which is the latest. I have a problem where the
phones keep dropping off of * and I get a "failed to register" message
in the log of *. Sometimes they eventually connect and sometimes, I

This firewall rule will self-destruct

1) Server is normally a webserver listening on port 80, and normally has the following rules active:
# iptables -A INPUT -m state --state ESTABLISHED,RELATED -j ACCEPT
# iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -j MASQUERADE
2) Server hosts a special PHP script, that when called correctly, sets rules like
# iptables -I PREROUTING -p tcp -s $REMOTE --dport 80 -j DNAT --to-destination $FWIP:$FWPORT
# iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp -s $REMOTE --dport 80 -j ACCEPT
The *next* tcp connection f...

Fedora change that will probably affect RHEL

All of the routers I've seen merely firewall inbound traffic, allowing
none. There's no need for NAT or rolling IPs.

Yes, our spectrometers that run VNMRJ are not allowed directly on the
network. They are tucked away safely behind a NAT'd firewall with very
few ports open and access is only allowed by proxy ssh from a few IP
addresses (for some reason the users want to retrieve their data from
it!). The extra cost of a firewall is nothing compared to the cost of
the instrument.

Switch mode tinc and masquerade
...ernet.
I've got the device on the VPN and it participates nicely, but I can't
talk to the internet at large. When I tcpdump the external interface on
the exit node, I see the packets leaving the network, but the source IP
is still the tinc VPN IP address of the device, and it's not NAT'd the
source as I expected. I've checked that I've added an iptables rule to
do this, but for some reason it's not hitting it. I'm not new to setting
up NAT gateways with iptables so I'm pretty sure that bit is correct.
Could this be something to do with it coming from...

Web & Mail
...OSTNAME will be a problem as a web server.
Currently I have loaded a html doc in - /var/www/html, but I had to load
from cd directly on this machine.
Is is neccessary to setup ftp to be able to upload html from remote system?
Don't know if this is important at this point - but this system is NAT'd to
an internal ip.
Heck of a 1st Linux project, huh. That's for all the advice.

Budgetone and NTP (redux)
I have found that the NTP server is not contacted when the phone
(Budgetone 100) comes back from a power down. I must reboot the phone
without powering down to get the phone to contact the NTP server for the
time. It doesn't matter whether I reboot from the phone's web site or
using the menu reset function: either works. I have only tested this
with a private NTP server. This may

Firefly Client can't receive incoming calls
I'm having a problem configuring asterisk to send incoming calls to
Firefly. I can make outgoing calls from firefly through asterisk
without any problems at all. The firefly client does this when it's on
the same IP subnet without a firewall, or from a NAT'd environment. Can
anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?
