Authenticating to BDC with LDAP backend
...home directories on.
These also run LDAP backend as slave servers.
Do all machines using the domain need to have machine accounts on the
PDC or do some that use the BDC for home directories need to have
machine accounts on the BDC?
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Samba AD member and connections from non-AD systems failing
....
Is there something that might need to be tweeked in AD security policy to get this working? Starting winbind will fix the login issue, but now it is trying to get group info from AD and not nss_ldap, all our group info is in LDAP (used by other systems). Any help would be appreciated.

Several people on this mailing list have the W32/Swen@MM virus
Ever since I signed up for this mailing list and sent my first question, I have been bombarded with the W32/Swen@MM and the emails aren't all from the same person. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Password problems
...slave LDAP servers. I don't use
/etc/passwd for anything but the stock local accounts.
I suppose I could write a script using mkntpwd that would update the
master server, in that way the password changes would filter down to the
LDAP slaves.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Net groupmap fails
...in Admins doesn't exist in mapping DB
I also tryed the above
I know I need to map Domain Admins to root users to be able to create
machine accounts for W2k machines.
What are some reasons for this to fail? I've read a great deal of
documentation and everything I try fails.

winbindd
hi all,
as i heard, i need winbind to connect linux-clients on samba. i installed
this - without pam (in the hope this would work...) but this constellation
seems to be needed, as i still cannot connect, even if winbind logs my
domain as accepted.
Do i really have to do the pam-configuration on the samba-server-side
too?? i just thought, it was enough to authentificate against smbpasswd.
