It dies during installworld in

10.0 BETA3 - nanobsd.sh does not use pkg
Hi, all,
I just wanted to report that. I do not yet have a patch to suggest.
nanobsd.sh cust_pkg() still tries to call pkg_add and fails when
adding packages to the NANO_WORLD_DIR. tbz vs. txz ?
Kind regards
Patrick

RELENG_7: buildworld failed with MODULES_WITH_WORLD=
Hi!
I've just tried to build NanoBSD from 7.0-STABLE sources
with MODULES_WITH_WORLD knob enabled and it failed.
Note that NanoBSD uses make -j3 by default and I have dualcore system.

Restricting users from certain privileges
Hi:
I could not figure out how to restrict users or other users from certain
privileges to execute certain commands in FreeBSD/NanoBSD?
What I meant is I want to create a NanoBSD image in which there will be an
additional user, say 'admin'. I need to give this new user (admin) some
privileges to run some root-can-only-execute commands, but not all (ACL
similar to the firmwares in adsl modems from ISPs).

Integrity checking NANOBSD images
...7294d5c61a0c0f35e3773f029cc0685
Can I be reasonably certain the image has not been tampered with
? Or are there trivial ways to defeat this check ?
The flash is always mounted read-only, so in theory nothing should
change with it. Or do I need to cram on tripwire or similar programs
onto the nanobsd image ?

9.1 minimal ram requirements
Guys, I've heard about some absurd RAM requirements
for 9.1, has anybody tested it?

A backhanded compliment for OpenSSH
We recently commissioned a new WAN. Us IT folks have been using it for months,
using ssh and scp to configure systems, copy files etc. It all worked
perfectly, across Linux, FreeBSD and nanoBSD systems.
We opened the WAN to our regular (Windows) application traffic, and it
promptly fell into a screaming heap. Days of chaos ensued, until we found
that ethernet duplex/speed mismatches with the edge routers was causing loss
of millions of frames.
So here's the back-handed compliment...

kern/93381: kern/93381 : reboot(8) works but 'reboot -n' hangs
Hi!
The same problem occures if 6.1-PRERELEASE kernel panic occures
while configuration partition of NanoBSD is being updated
(so, mounted read-write). This problem has occured now,
I've got kernel panic while find(1) walked file system
and the system become frozen after panic, it did not reboot.
Please take a look at http://www.FreeBSD.org/cgi/query-pr.cgi?pr=kern/93381

repeatable crash on RELENG7
While trying to speed up nanobsd builds, I mounted /usr/obj on a
ramdisk and found my box crashing. Thinking it might be hardware, I
tried a separate machine, but with the same results. I have 4G of
ram (i386). Am I just running out of some kernel memory ? If so, is
there anything I can adjust to prevent this, yet still us...

Replace Cisco IOS/CBOS with freebsd - possible?
Greetings,
I'm RP for a fairly large chunk of IP real estate. I carved out
a /27 segment for my home network. Which is currently running over
a cisco 837 GW (adsl/router). I'm not really keen on it (the router/modem).
So I thought to myself that it couldn't be /that/ hard to build a
box with FBSD that could replace it - am I crazy? Wouldn't it
be possible to upload a minimal build

Why Are You Using FreeBSD?
Hi Everyone,
This is off-topic, so please feel free to disregard it, but I'm sending it to this list in the hope that it will reach a largish number of users.
I am currently looking at updating some of our advocacy material (which advertises exciting new features like SMP support), and before I do I'd like to get a better feel for why the rest of you are using FreeBSD. If you had to
