Strange behaviour with ptmx file descriptors
Hi list
At job we have an old C program which works with industrial hand terminals
from Honeywell.
That terminal has its own ssh/telnet client to connect to a linux redhat
6.6 server (openssh-server-5.3p1-104.el6_6.1.x86_64).
Once it is connected to the linux box (using a certain user), a C program
is launched by the bash shell with the following parameters
export TERM=vt200
stty raw icrnl

Hi.
I have a very serious problem. sometimes I view messages like that:
[2002/07/23 14:09:00, 0] lib/doscalls.c:dos_GetWd(420)
Very strange, couldn't stat "." path=/root
and I have one win98 client that when he goes to open a share file from
him, samba asks him for the password
I have Linux Red Hat 6.2
Snmp Kernel
Samba 2.0.10
1 Gb RAM

Sorry, but without access to this system I can't really say
what is going on. Please talk to Oracle for support. Samba
is running fine on a huge variety of file systems, and if
ACFS gives you locking issues, I would request Oracle to fix

Fwd: samba & Oracle ACFS Issues
Hi Volker
Finally I loaded the following configuration in our test environment
[global]
deadtime = 60
keepalive = 10
[dossiers]
locking = Yes
; If yes, turns on byte-range locks.
strict locking = No
; If yes, denies access to an entire file if a byte-range lock
exists in it.
; posix locking = Yes
posix locking = No

Fwd: samba & Oracle ACFS Issues
Hi Volker and the list
Yesterday the problem appeared again
I could launch a strace command over a samba PID to see what was going on
and this is the result
[PRO] [root at pf3il0024 ~]# strace -frp 57686
Process 57686 attached - interrupt to quit
0.000000 fcntl(14, F_SETLKW, {type=F_RDLCK, whence=SEEK_SET,
start=35824, len=1}
It seems the process was trying to get a read-lock but no one

Problem exporting table with many columns to dbf
Hello,
I'm newbie in R and I have a problem exporting a table with many columns to
a dbf file.
I found an error when I open the result DBF file on other software and also
importing it on R again.
Here a example snippet of the problem (on a GNU/Linux OS):

Is it a bug?
Thank you,

Installing Office 2000
Hi all!
I am trying to install Office 2000 in wine from 25/7/2005 (debian
package)... but I can't pass the following error:
"Error 1918: Error installing OBDC driver. Verify that the file
Microsoft Text driver(*.txt, *.csv) exists and that you can access it"
The console gives the following message:

Ok, it is becoming a nightmare ;-)
Last question Volker
Is it possible the problem comes from a network device?
At job, we have been suffering problems with a F5 Load Balancer. It seems
that, randomly, it sets the transmission frame to 0 bytes during a while
and routing services don't work very well
It is planned that this F5 will be upgraded next week to solve these
problems
Do you think

Fwd: samba & Oracle ACFS Issues
The symptom is that the windows process which is accessing the samba share
hangs
Also, if you try to open the same share (you can do the connection) to see
the files, the ls command hangs
The other samba shares don't be affected at all, they work ok
So the only thing you can do is a reload/restart to resume operations

samba & Oracle ACFS Issues
Hi there
In an Oracle RAC cluster using ACFS (as file-system) where we have a samba
server for sharing files to windows clients, we are suffering a strange
issue, from time to time, which it causes the Windows clients lock for a
while (10 min or a bit more) or even indefinitely when they are working
with the share resource, and sometimes we have to re-start the samba
service to come back to

PowerPoint 2000 freezing with some presentations...
Hi all!
I am having some problems with PowerPoint 2000 running in a wine
0.0.20050725-1 debian package. It works fine when I am creating a new
presentation, but when I am opening old presentations it freezes after
displaying the first slide and I am unable to even exit from ppoint. The
console shows the following:
err:syslevel:_EnterSysLevel (0x7f117380, level 2): Holding 0x7fb1fea0,
level 3.

Barplot and plot means with confidence intervals in the same plot
I want to obtain a barplot with error bars and a mean plot with error bars
with other scale on the left in the same plot. I need help to get the same
x axis (centered) when overlay two plots (barplot2 and plotCI (or
lineplot.CI) with errorbars), with diferent y axis. I use par (new=T) but
the X axis names are not centered with the figures.
