Best way to filter "Nachi pings"?
We're being ping-flooded by the Nachi worm, which probes subnets for systems to attack by sending 92-byte ping packets. Unfortunately, IPFW doesn't seem to have the ability to filter packets by length. Assuming that I stick with IPFW, what's the best way to stem the tide? --Brett Glass

Is my use of loop in this case to addup certain arrays together, too .. dumb? Is there another way of doing such things by vectorization? Thanks in advance, Nachiketa [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

ADSI phone vs. IP phone (and proper implementation thereof)
...] That's VoIP 101. The real issue is that the phones crash/reboot/degrade under high pps on the switch. Probably because of all of that processing for VLANS and switching taking place on the same processor as the phone (just a guess, I have no idea of the internal design). Go get yourself a nachi-style worm, or other high-pps type app and put it on a reasonable well-powered machine on a 7960. Crank up the packets and try to make phone calls. Then we'll talk again.
