All test from howto were successful (hosts .., smbclient ..)
To create users, i do the following:
samba-tool user add myuser1 myGreatHiddenPassword789

The dir /var/lib/samba/profiles/ is set to a+rwx, so that all writings
are allowed. No additional acl-entries at the moment.
If I now start my (win80)-client, the client is able to login into the

Problems with Mailstorage path.
...rrently I've configured dovecote to find user's mail folder like this:
dovecot.conf
mail_location = maildir:/var/vmail/%d/%u/Maildir
All my domain mailboxes are under /var/vmail, as evident. But there
are some users whose mail folders are directly under /var/vmail like
this one:
/var/vmail/myuser1 at mydomain1.com
also, some have their folder names starting with caps like:
/var/vmai/mudomain1.com/Myuser1 at mydomain1.com
This creates problems when these users try to login. Here I want
dovecote to kind of assemble the mail storage path from
mailMessageStore ldap attribute of the particular...

help with samba and ldap on centos 5
...s are working fine, getent group shows local
and ldap groups, however attempting to assign access to a share for
either a single ldap user or a local user doesn't work, and produces the
following error when trying to hit the share:
smb_pam_passcheck: PAM: smb_pam_auth failed - Rejecting User myuser1 !
For local users, I've added local os accounts as well as accounts in the
samba database with smbpasswd
Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

sftp with a user defined shell
...nt bails out saying the following message:
"Received message too long 537548147"
Is it because the user shell, outputting lot of text?
I am OK with this behaviour, if no traces of the initiated session is
left behind.
But the problem for me is that the user shell is left behind running
myuser1 7015 0.1 0.1 1680 1256 ? S 12:38:03 0:00 /bin/csh
/bin/my_sh -c /opt/openssh/libexec/sftp
As my_sh needs a tty and because of a bug in that, it runs in a while
loop and takes up lot of cpu.
If only sftp supports only the shells returned from "getusershell"
function, sftp...

Local groups with ADS users
...myuser0
usermod: MYDOMAIN+myuser0 not found in /etc/passwd
and this for me is almost clear, because if usermod search only in
passwd it will not find anything. So i've added manually the user to the
group in the /etc/group file :
# tail -1 /etc/group
ADGROUP:x:1004:MYDOMAIN+myuser0,MYDOMAIN+myuser1,MYDOMAIN+myuser2
This seems to work, because if i run this command :
# groups MYDOMAIN+myuser0
MYDOMAIN+myuser0 : MYDOMAIN+group1 ADGROUP
i receive what i'm expecting to receive.
The permission on the directory that i'm sharing are these :

Hi,
we have upgrade an Samba Member (DCs already upgraded) from Samba 4.1.17 to Samba 4.2.10.
On DCs work fine after install winbind.
But our member extremely slow.
Connect to the Share takes 2-3 minutes and directory listing need 2-5 minutes.
wbinfo -u takes around 20 seconds and will not return output
wbinfo -g takes 3 seconds and show my groups
id user.name takes 20 seconds and shows
