Problem authenticating against a W2K server
Hi there. I'm having a problem letting a Samba server (MYSAMBA) authenticate users (using "security = domain" and a "password server = MYPDC") against a Windows 2000 PDC (MYPDC). The Windows 2000 machine seems (I'm not 100% sure about this) to be configured to restrict anonymous and it seems to me that this is where the problem lies bu...

Can't access by NetBIOS Aliases or IP Address
...joined the Active Directory domain. The domain controllers are Windows Server 2012 R2. After I upgraded Samba version from 4.1.17+dfsg-2+deb8u2 to 4.2.10+dfsg-0+deb8u2, I'm facing the problem that I can't access Samba share by NetBIOS Aliases or IP Address. The Samba's NetBIOS name is mysamba, and I can access by NetBIOS Name from windows pcs as follows. net use g: \\mysamba\myshare But, I can't access by NetBIOS aliases or IP address as follows. (mysamba01 is NetBIOS aliase) net use g: \\mysamba01\myshare or net use g: \\192.168.0.1\myshare The previous version, 4.1.17+dfsg-2+d...

Can't login from Windows PC to Samba using ADS?
...tp://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/unixclients.html#adssdm>" to the tee (of course it is for 3.0.2) and have every thing working except for W2K pc cannot authenticate? Oh yeah, I also went the steps in the troubleshooting guide but couldn't get the step "net use x: \\mysamba\web" to add. I can 'net view \\mysamba' just fine and sambaclient -L mysamba.xxx.com/mydomainloginname ok using my ADS password. I can see mysamba in the Network Neighborhood. But I just can't get access to the share from my PC. Oh yea, and I am using encrypted passwords = yes....

SerNet - Samba 4.3 and ssh password logins
Hi everyone, I have a SerNet-Samba 4.3.6-10 AD which works fine. Now I try to implement a fileserver. It is a server with a lot of (old)-users, which have an Unix-Account. On this server are also users who should can login from the Internet over ssh. But now I'm running in trouble with the security of my fileserver. When I would install samba 4.3.6 on it and activate sernet-samba-client

smb.conf 3.0.7 -> 3.0.23c domain master problem
Hi all, We have an old 3.0.7 samba running as PDC. As we have problems with XP64 clients accessing the domain, I compiled a 3.0.23c and copied the smb.conf. Some of the client work well with the new Samba, but most of them do not. Was there any relevant change in the smb.conf part between the two versions? Thanks Bgs

Win9x can not see my Samba
I hace just installed samba. It works fine using application on my debian, but from Win98 can not see my samba. I can not achieve to see my samba as part of the NT domain. If I try to find \\mysamba\share (where mysamba is my netbios name) Win98 says "Error 53" Unknown hosts or route to host (in spanish) using my IP instead of "mysamba" produces the same result on Win98, but it works on the WinNT box that is the domain master. >From samba I can reach all hosts using th...

Accessing remote domain's browse-list?
Hi there, can anybody please explain to me how I can access the browse-list of a remote domain ? My local net and the remote net are connected via Isdn4Linux, ping works just fine. My local clients connect to Samba Server MYSAMBA and the remote clients connect to server REMOTE. MYSAMBA and REMOTE are configured nearly identical, only WORKGROUP/DOMAIN and ipaddresses are different ... I can access REMOTE, but not REMOTE's browse-list. What am I doing wrong ? Problem compiling mysql support
Hi, when I run pdbedit I get the following... Error loading module '/usr/local/samba/lib/pdb/mysql.so': /usr/local/samba/lib/pdb/mysql.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory No builtin nor plugin backend for mysql found Loading mysql:mysamba failed! There is indeed no mysql.so in this directory. I compiled samba with confg options --with-mysql-prefix=/usr/local/mysql --with-mysql-exec-prefix=/usr/local/mysql which is the same as the similar parameters supplied during the (working) MySql installation. Not sure what to do next.....

Problems with BDC-Samba starting with version 3.0.25
...are working on a notebook not logging in to the domain initially. They use local username and password matching the entries in the domain. No problem so far with 3.0.24 - connecting the shares worked fine. Starting with with 3.0.25 it fails. If I connect the share manually using "net use X: \\mysamba\myshare" and specifying "MYDOMAIN\myuser" and password, it works. What has changed? What am I doing wrong? If you need the config and/or build options, let me know. Thanks for your help! Thomas

server=domain does not work in samba3.0-alpha24
...uot; for a samba server domain member with samba-3.0alpha23 and samba-3.0alpha24. In each cases, " ads_connect: Connection refused .." message appeared when trying to join the domain. But "net rpc testjoin" says ok. The main point of this mail is that " smbclient -L mysamba -U username" will work on samba-3.0alpha23 but not on samba-3.0alpha24. Is this a bug or is there some changes between these two versions that I have to take account for joining the domaine with server=domain? Here details of the two of the attemps: one with alpha24 the other with alpha23...

problems trusting a w2003 domain server from samba 3
I have samba 3 PDC (SAMBA domain with hostname "pevpdc") on CentOS 3.7 (package is named samba-3.0.9-1.3E.7) and I have a w2k3 sp1 domain (W2003 domain with hostname "mailserver"). The last is in mixed mode and is an exchange server and the former is without winbind, using smbpasswd backend and "security = user" in smb.conf. I would like to authenticate mailserver

Authentication problems
I am having a problem similar to the one that Jason Gerrity is having with authentication. Sometimes people are unable to access drives on one of our unix servers from an NT machine. They are prompted for their password and when they enter it they get the message "Incorrect password or unknown username." These are people that have permissions on unix and can usually access these
