No. See my previous message. I think it's the result of copying
portions of SuSE configurations.

Can't contact LDAP server,
I have samba 3 with ldap as a authentication backend. When I use pdbedit

But I have problem with exporting smbpasswd to ldap, when I try pdbedit
-i smbpasswd:/etc/samba/smbpasswd -e ldapsam
I've got a problem that failed to bind to server ldap://localhost

User/Group HWM ignored when converting idmap from tdb to LDAP
...intended, with one exception - the
highest uidNumber/gidNumber in use is not transferred, and this causes
duplicate use of the same uid/gidNumber.
Here's what I'm doing:
1) net idmap dump /var/cache/samba/winbindd_idmap.tdb > idmap.dump
2) Set idmap backend in smb.conf to ldap:ldap://myldapserver.
3) net idmap restore < idmap.dump, which gives me the following
output:
ignoring invalid line [USER HWM 10002]
ignoring invalid line [GROUP HWM 10008]
USER HWM: 10000 GROUP HWM: 10000

need recipe for samba to do user authentication against a centos 5.5 openldap server (NO IDMAPS! NO PDC!)
Hi all,
Please help Ive been wasting days at this...
I am not trying to create a PDC, I am not joining an active directory, I am
not needing samba schema in my openldap (or do I?), I am not trying to use
winbind and idmaps for translations from SID to UID/GID, I just want my
samba server which shares linux home directories to authenticate
user+password against my existing linux based openldap
