Using //server/share%username ?
...ggests that the "share%username" hack should be used in this case. This seems to work fine on my old 1.9.18p8 server, but not on any of the newer ones. FW: Dumping streams to a file?
Yes that is the plan. I'll have to find some time to graft the patch onto 2.1 mainline and post it here. xmms-flac security update breaks XMMS' flac-playing ability
...1.2.1 or later, so it sounds like the version dependencies in xmms-flac were not set up to automatically pull in 1.2.1. check the versions of the other flac packages on the machine (not sure what they're called in ubuntu but probably flac or libflac) and make sure they're up to 1.2.1 --- Myke Carter <mykec@mykec.net> wrote: > Hello, > > First post to this group. Playing a file before live stream
Hi, My sincere apologies if this topic has appeared on the mailing list before, (as I'm sure it probably has) but the xiph.org archive function is still broken so I can't search. At any rate, I'd like to know if it is possible, using Icecast2, to play a short .mp3 or .ogg file before a live stream is delivered. I'm not sure how to do this, or if it is even possible. Any help is

Segfaults in Icecast 2.0.2
Hello, Using Icecast version 2.0.2, I'm seeing segfaults when I connect a particular encoder to the stream. I already have three encoders connected, serving six streams without a problem, but adding the seventh stream crashes Icecast everytime after a period of ten to thirty seconds. All but one of the encoders are Darkice encoders and the encoder which crashes Icecast is also Darkice. So

status.xsl contains old entries
Hello all, When I look at status.xsl for my Icecast2 server, I see not only currently connected mounts, but also _previously_ connected mounts which read as "Stream Information (stream not currently available)". Is this the desired behavior? It seems as streams connect and disconnect, this page fills up quickly to the point where it is unusable. If it's a misconfiguration,

Icecast and logrotate
Icecast 2.1.0 Debian 3.0 I'm trying to use logrotate to rotate my Icecast logs and I'm running into some problems because it seems that Icecast won't write to the new log after rotation takes place. I'd really rather not do a full restart of Icecast everytime I rotate the log, since I don't want to disconnect a large number of listeners. Is there a signal that can be sent to

Small documentation patch
Based on Oddsock's information and my experience trying to brew some custom XSLT transformations, I've added a few lines to icecast2_admin.html which might save Icecast admins some time when attempting to create custom transforms. Please modify as you see fit and/or correct any errors. Hope this helps... -mp (Patch attached in svn diff, hopefully this is the proper format for Icecast

FAILURE - WRITE_DMA timed out
When I use SATA disks heavily on a 5.3-R machine (Athlon) with the SiI3512 disk controller, I get frequent (sometimes one every 1-5 minutes) WRITE_DMA timed out messages (with different blocks and both disks). It also panics with more than one kind of panic, and sometimes doesn't even get to finish the background fsck from the previous panic before dying again. Given that both disks get the

Dumping streams to a file?
A long time ago (probably 1.3 days,) I remember that it was possible to telnet to the Icecast server port, authenticate, and from there issue a command to dump a live stream to a file. Is this still possible with Icecast 2.1 and if so, could somebody give me a quick refresher on how it is done? Thanks, -mp BTW, kudos on the new release. Very nice work.

AAC encoders?
Now that Icecast 2.2 supports AAC encoded streams, I'm looking around for an encoder that will take raw-audio->AAC for a live stream on a Linux platform. I glanced at the docs for Darkice and StreamTranscoder as well as some other 3rd-party apps listed on icecast.org but none seem to encode to AAC. Any suggestions? -mp

wins.dat contains 127.0.0.1 for local server
I couldn't really find anything about this in the archives, sorry if it's been beat to death. I've got a Debian Linux box running kernel 2.0.33. The machine has two ethernet cards and does NAT between a LAN and a cable modem link. For some reason, it's got 127.0.0.1 listed for its name: root@spruce:/var/samba>cat wins.dat "SPRUCE#20" 914324043 127.0.0.1 46R
