Please Help!!! smbcontrol close-share
Hi Marc, Thank you for your email. I think something is wrong with the command or syntax. For example, I open the share folder in a Win workstation(\\server\My_Share) and then run the program to close that share in the server console. The workstation continues to have normal access to that share. Nothing change. I think If the command were running correctly the workstation would not be

next to no frils smb.conf pointing to an existing LDAP on AIX 5.3
Hello all. Talking about Samba 3.0.28 on AIX 5.3.0.0. I am new to Samba, new to LDAP. I got a "no frills" config running. My goal : have a "no frills" + "authenticating against an existing already running LDAP server" config. I imagine I could get my samba server to authenticate against this LDAP Server. "Just point Samba at this LDAP, and that's it !"

Ubuntu 18.04, bound to Windows AD, sssd auth, Samba 4.7.6: Can't get no share satisfaction
OK, At a loss for what to try next. According to this page, it should be possible to make this work: http://www.hexblot.com/blog/centos-7-active-directory-and-samba However, I can't get AD users to authenticate when I run net use * \\cns-cryo-road1\my_share /user:austin\pgoetz Authenticating via ssh, su, or from the console using the same AD UserName is not a problem. It seems

Unable to connect MS Lan Manager Client for DOS to SAMBA
Hello!! First some facts: The serwer is SAMBA 2.2.1a running on a R.H. Linux 7.2. The client is MS Lan Manager Client 2.2c.0 running under DOS 6.22. During the client`s installation the option 'Basic' was picked up. SAMBA is running in share level security. Now I can only connect to SAMBA shares which are 'guest ok' even when I specify password with the 'net use'

Trying to mount with minimalist smb.conf
I am trying to mount a share on a remote machine using a miminal smb.conf as suggested in the Samba HOWTO. Nmbd and smbd are running on the target machine. The calling machine (server?) has the name of the target (linda2) in /etc/smbshares. When I try to mount I get the error message: Got a positive name query response from 127.0.0.1 ( 192.168.0.4 ) Connecting to 192.168.0.4 at port 445

Samba share on a network shared with other people is randomly accessible
I installed Ubuntu Server 12.04, Samba, configured smb.conf, added a Samba user, and restarted Samba, to create a shared folder between my VM guest (Ubuntu), and my host (Windows 7). I also set my Network to Bridged instead of NAT. I was able to access \\UBUNTU for a while, but now I'm not able to, and it seems like randomly I'll be able to access \\UBUNTU for brief amounts of time.
