Please Help!!! smbcontrol close-share
Hi Marc, Thank you for your email. I think something is wrong with the command or syntax. For example, I open the share folder in a Win workstation(\\server\My_Share) and then run the program to close that share in the server console. The workstation continues to have normal access to that share. Nothing change. I think If the command were running correctly the workstation would not be able to access the share. Is there other way to do this? I can try....

Ubuntu 18.04, bound to Windows AD, sssd auth, Samba 4.7.6: Can't get no share satisfaction
OK, At a loss for what to try next. According to this page, it should be possible to make this work: http://www.hexblot.com/blog/centos-7-active-directory-and-samba However, I can't get AD users to authenticate when I run net use * \\cns-cryo-road1\my_share /user:austin\pgoetz Authenticating via ssh, su, or from the console using the same AD UserName is not a problem. It seems like the relevant smb.conf keys here are: security = user|ads server role = auto I've been leaving server-role set at auto (assuming this will do the right thin...

"close-share" just closes all connections to a share, without affecting other client connections. It doesn't remove a share. > It returns the following: > > Ignoring unknown parameter "use client drivers" &g...

Unable to connect MS Lan Manager Client for DOS to SAMBA
...ning under DOS 6.22. During the client`s installation the option 'Basic' was picked up. SAMBA is running in share level security. Now I can only connect to SAMBA shares which are 'guest ok' even when I specify password with the 'net use' command (e.g. net use \\my_serwer\my_share my_password). Connection attempts to shares which are not 'guest ok' always return an error. This is my smb.conf configuration file: [global] workgroup = my_workgroup nam resolve order = host preferred master = yes os level = 65 security = share restrict anonymous = yes follow symlinks...

Trying to mount with minimalist smb.conf
I am trying to mount a share on a remote machine using a miminal smb.conf as suggested in the Samba HOWTO. Nmbd and smbd are running on the target machine. The calling machine (server?) has the name of the target (linda2) in /etc/smbshares. When I try to mount I get the error message: Got a positive name query response from 127.0.0.1 ( 192.168.0.4 ) Connecting to 192.168.0.4 at port 445

Samba share on a network shared with other people is randomly accessible
...UBUNTU for brief amounts of time. I'm new to Ubuntu, Samba, VMs, and networking in general, so I tried making the VM's IP static in hopes it would fix this to no avail. I'm at a complete loss and have worked on this for 3-4 days straight now. Here's what I appended to smb.conf: [my_share] path = /home/cory/apps read only = no admin users = cory I get the feeling this is a problem with the network changing when other people connect to it, and/or some Samba settings. Anyway, I'd love any help. I'm completely stumped as to why it'd work sometimes, and why it would...
