Can't join linux machine to linux pdc controlled domain.
Getting error message:

my_pdc is the primary domain controller for my_domain. I have three

They all work fine (funny enough) and can access the do...

Problems joining NT Domain
...ng to get my linux box running slackware with kernel 2.0.36 and
samba 2.0.0 (full version not BETA) to join our NT domain. I first added
to computer to the domain. Then I typed this (computer and domain names
altered for protection):
linux_computer:/usr/local/samba/bin# smbpasswd -j MY_DOMAIN -r MY_PDC
Where linux_computer is the linux computer (like you needed that)
MY_DOMAIN is the NT domain I want to join
MY_PDC is the Primary Domain Controller for MY_DOMAIN
I got back the following errors:

Problem browsing my unix-client - session setup failed: NT_STATUS _CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
I installed samba 3.0015.
I have a problem when I try to browse my machine from a windows client. In

I checked nmbd and smbd and they are running.
If I try from my unix-clinet: smbclient -L my_user -W my_domain -L my_PDC I
can see shares.
If I try from my unix client: smbclient -L my_user -W my_domain -L
my_unix_client I get
session setup failed: NT_STATUS_CANT_ACCESS_DOMAIN_INFO
What I'm mistaking?
Thank you

Help with Samba (net vampire) not pulling passwords into openLDAP backend - fails pam_ldap authentication - pam_unix used instead ?
...*) Should my /etc/openldap/slapd.conf roopw==> be encrypted ? for now
I'm using plain text with /etc/ldap.conf: bindpw & rootbinddn used in
combination with plain text /etc/ldap.secret
*) Beside removing my host from the PDC's list of detected BDC prior to:
net rpc join -S MY_PDC -UAdministrator%myAdminPassWd
I'm not doing anything on the remote PDC machine ?
Is there any remote configuration I need to perform for "trust" ?
Note: My BDC -- has the same SID and Workgroup name as my PDC and
I'm able to "join" the domain OK... no errors.

You are using 'security = domain' and the PDC said,
"I don't knoiw any user named root". Maybe you have
a username map configured?

Hi everybody,)
I have this error in my log.smbd file that I don't
understand. Here is a sample of it:
[2001/06/05 15:47:0, 0] smbd/password.c: (1569)
domain_client_validate: unable to validate password
for user ROOT in domain My_Domain to Domain controller
My_PDC. Error was NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER.
[2001/06/05 15:47:0, 0]
rpc_client/cli_netlogon.c:(411)
cli_net_sam_logon_internal: NT_STATUS_NO_SUCH_USER
But when I log in from the client, I am not the Root
user. Can somebody tell me what is wrong and what can
I do?
Thanks
Eric
