file attributes (ACL's) lost
Hello,
I have an iSCSI mount that I disconnected from during a reboot and after
remounting it all the ACL's are missing. Using 'll' shows no extended file
attributes and 'getfacl' on the dir' shows that the previous attributes
are now missing. Restarting smb, nmb, & winbind didn't restore them
either.
Is there a way to restore the attributes? Not sure how they

Samba on freebsd - permissions issue
Hello,
I have Samba set up on FreeBSD with a share for guests. I don't need or want any authentication for this share.
[test2]
path = /data/test2
read only = No
create mask = 0777
guest ok = Yes
The file permission on the host directory was set to 2777 and nobody:nobody. When a windows machine writes to the dir the permissions look fine. For example,

the standard CentOS repo and EPEL has many as well. Take a look at
perlbrew if you really need a new version of perl for some reason. If you
don't really need the new version, don't update it.

I have joined the Linux server (Suse 11.2) to the Windows domain (win2003) and users can login to the server using their window's domain credentials. Also can view all of the domain groups using 'wbinfo -g', however when I try to set the acls on a local dir' I get the follow error;

Thank you Kahlil for your reply.
I made few perl changes, uninstalled CPAN, removed the .cpan dir, and reinstalled, and ran 'install CPAN' and everything looked much better. That is, no failures. The last part of the output was;

smbd & rpc.mountd eating up all the cpu
Hello,
Don't know what happened, but Samba stopped serving up shares. Top shows
'smbd' using 66% of the cpu and 'rpc.mountd' using 33%. The samba log on

importing groups from NT 4 server to Samba 3
Hello,
I changed all of the NT user account names to lowercase, however I am unable
to change the group accounts to lowercase. The Samba server is running on
Suse 10.0.
Will the uppercase group names cause any problems during or after the
migration to Samba?
Thanks in advance.

ncurses admin tool over ssh
Hello,
Just installed CentOS 5 64bit. I come from a Suse environment and I am
curious if there is a ncurses type admin tool similar to Yast? I don't want
to run X windows on this server.
Many thanks and I'm looking forward to learning about and using this Linux
distro.

cifs mounts in smbfstab
Hello,
I have the following in /etc/samba/smbfstab;
//msserver/share /mnt/smb-share cifs
file_mode=0777,dir_mode=0777,credentials=/etc/cifsusers/admin,rw
However, when using 'mount /mnt/smb_dir' I get;
mount: can't find /mnt/smb_dir in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
Using 'mount -a' doesn't mount either.
If I use "smbmount /mnt/smb_dir" I get;
