R hangs on the stats.so library
Dear all, I having this problem on my laptop. It was caused by my clumsy attempts to upgrade the system. As I wrote here, (http://www.mail-archive.com/r-sig-debian at r-project.org/msg01364.html) I was trying to solve the same problem with JAGS/rjags on my laptop. After typing R in a terminal I'm currently get the following: > R version 2.9.0 (2009-04-17) > Copyright (C) 2009 The R

Samba broken after dist-upgrade in Ubuntu 20.04?
Hello, I installed updates today on my Ubuntu 20.04 and after that, Samba was disabled/masked/not installed at all. Even attempting to install samba again reports: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of

Problem Updating from 2.71 to 2.8 in Ubuntu
Hello, I have recently installed Ubuntu (8.10) Intrepid Ibex and I am trying to get R version 2.8. I have changed my /etc/apt/sources.list file to include a mirror. I have also added the Vincent Goulet key. However, whenever I run sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install r-base it installs version 2.71. Given that I am new to Ubuntu, is there anything that I need to do to make ubuntu get

I hosed every thing. Had MSXML issues and sorm rtpd4.dll file I had to down load and over

[LLVMdev] Multiversioning
Hi, I am interested in generating two different optimized versions of a function into a single binary, so that I can dynamically select the function to execute at runtime. Can anyone shed some insight into the difficulties in achieving this in the LLVM infrastructure? Thank you! vj. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

State of the Breezy
What''s the current state of Rails installation on a fresh Ubuntu Breezy? I''ve just set up a laptop with a fresh installation, and tried to install ruby et al, and got nowhere fast. The default ruby is 1.8.3, and compiling the source for 1.8.4 leaves the rubygems setup.rb breaking unable to find zlib (and yes, I have checked for zlib1g-dev and readline). Is there a known

cran ubuntu repository and ubuntu 12.10
Since upgrading to quantal, I find that synaptic and apt-get cannot read the sources.list file if it includes the previously standard line deb http://lib.stat.cmu.edu/R/CRAN/bin/linux/ubuntu/ quantal This line makes apt-get or synaptic give an error message identifying this line as having a syntax error. If "multiverse" is added at the end of the line, the line is parsed, but then

wxruby + GTK2.0
I have a newly-installed Ubuntu linux box that I''m planning to use for wxruby development (thanks for the advice on remote desktops from this group). However, turns out that Ubuntu comes with GTK2.0, annd wxwidgets 2.6 is reportedly better and easier to build than 2.4.2 against this. Before I set off on a potentially fruitless compiling journey, I was wondering if anyone had had

revolution-mkl package not functioning correctly with R 2.13
It appears that the revoluton-mkl package, available via the multiverse Ubuntu repository with the purpose of adding multi-threaded numeric libraries to R, is not function correctly with R 2.13 (at least the version found on CRAN). Testing with "R-benchmark-25.R" (found at http://r.research.att.com/benchmarks/), I get the following error, after installing the revolution-mkl package

[LLVMdev] API Changes: TargetMachine::getSubtarget
...ual version of the function in the target specific TargetMachine. What this means in practice is that those targets can only use a bare getSubtarget call in their target specific code, and should probably clean that up as soon as they can. They'll definitely be unable to use any of the function multiversioning support when it goes in and they'll be unable to LTO binaries that have functions with different subtarget features/cpus. Updating out of tree ports should be fairly straightforward for now. Updating out of tree code otherwise should be ok, but given I've been removing this stuff for some...
