assign() problem
...e[i], imwrImage) : invalid first argument what could be wrong, when I do it on the commandline everything works out just fine. But within the function it doesn't. When I disable the assign statement, everything runs fine so the rest of the code should be clean. My code: # Wavelet multiresolution decomposition wmra <- function(image_file){ #require(rimage) require(wavethresh) #reading image file and converting it to grayscale #dimage <- read.jpeg(image_file) #dimage <- imagematrix(dimage) # discrete wavelet decomposition imwdImage <- imwd(image_file) # get a value for the nu...

Help needed in wavelet transforming
Hello I am currently working on forecasting hourly electricity prices where I am required to do wavelet transformation. First I need to calculate decomposition coefficients of the wavelet transform, then I need to select wavelet function using multiresolution technique. I would be really grateful if I can find any help in this matter. Thanking You with regards, -- Name : Tarun Trivedi Senior Student Dept. of Industrial Engg. and Management IIT Kharagpur Mobile No. 9775550571 Email ID : taruntrivedi.iitkgp@gmail.com [[alternative HTML version delet...

Best package for time series analysis with wavelets???
...ormation from electrocardiograms with the aim of study the heart rate variability) so i want to know which package is the best for me. I've thinking about using some of those(you can recommend me others,xD): *wavelets: A package of funtions for computing wavelet filters, wavelet transforms and multiresolution analyses. *waveslim: Basic wavelet routines for one-, two- and three-dimensional signal processing. *wavethresh: Wavelets statistics and transforms. *mtsa: Insightful Wavelet Methods for Time Series Analysis(Software to book Wavelet Methods for Time Series Analysis, so i don't know if it'...

total variation penalty
Hi, I was recently plowing through the docs of the quantreg package by Roger Koenker and came across the total variation penalty approach to 1-dimensional spline fitting. I googled around a bit and have found some papers originated in the image processing community, but (apart from Roger's papers) no paper that would discuss its statistical aspects. I have a couple of questions in this
