Nouveau and multi-monitor setup for Quadro NVS450 (G98)
...al minutes. I therefore would like to move to the
Nouveau driver which has become the default for most Linux distributions
anyway.
I am not able to create a multi-monitor setup with current Nouveau
drivers (from Ubuntu 14.04.1). xrandr -q only shows one monitor.
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/MultiMonitorDesktop/ seems to refer
to Xinerama which is no alternative to me (slow, no display effects).
If I am not mistaken, the NVS450's chipset G98 is not supported
according to the feature matrix
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/FeatureMatrix although certain other
sources from the web state otherwise. I...

P.S. This seems to be a bit outdated.. ?

.. it implies that xinerama must be used to combine screens from two

K2200 Special Setup Question
Hi,
I'm planning to use a K2200 board with an Eizo
monitor at 10 bits color depth together with a
standard monitor on a debian sid system.
Is it possible to have one monitor with 8, the
other with 10 bit colors? Is it possible to
configure such a setup choosing for each
monitor a different resolution (dpi) such that
a window would not change size when moved from
one monitor to the other?

Using reverse prime with a ton of screens has had a questionable
success rate. Using Xinerama Just Works (tm). B...

Admittedly I've never tried this, but I can't think of anything that
would prevent you from doing this using the ZaphodHeads/Xinerama
approach. Take a look at
http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/MultiMonitorDesktop/ -- pay
special attention to the highly-unintuitive Screen setting inside of
the Device section -- it appears to be the index of the crtc to be
used on that device, not the overall screen number (so it just repeats
0/1/0/1/etc). Note that ZaphodHeads was broken for some number of

I am sure that single X server will not work here. Each xserver is
owned by different user. I organized it in this way so that command
"slay yade" will not interfere with my other working X sessions.
I have only one graphics card in my computer, it has three

...se-case, but perhaps another option
is to have a single X server with multiple X screens. This can be done
by enabling ZaphodHeads. This was a common way to get a mega-screen
across multiple GPUs prior to output slaving being introduced, there's
a guide here https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/MultiMonitorDesktop/
.
Lastly, note that no matter how many physical outputs there might be,
Kepler+ only supports 4 CRTC's and earlier gens had 2. That puts a
hw-imposed upper limit on the number of images that can be produced
for these outputs.

Cannot start a secondary Xserver with resolution 6480x3840
Hi,
In my workflow I am using several separate xservers. One for work,
another for research and so on. Each of them has a separate user
account, and they all belong to the same (main) group called janek.
I've been using nvidia for years, but about 2 years ago some super
annoying bug appeared in nvidia, namely that switching between
virtual terminals sporadically causes nvidia_modeset to

Display not refreshing when not moving mouse
Dear nouveau developers and users!
After many years of dealing with the blob in my kernel, I decided it was time to move to an open source solution. With one of my machines, equipped with 9500GT it went almost flawlessly. I had to patch kernel to get GLXVBlank option working (only because I used the latest and greatest 3.7-rc6), but that is all, and I'm very happy with the result. Nouveau on

regression? no more separate xscreens
...evs,
The support for multiple xscreens (i.e. no xinerama, just separate :0.0
and :0.1 displays) in nouveau is broken.
It would be great if someone could confirm this. It is easily done, by
commenting the "xinerama" option from the xorg.conf file:
https://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/MultiMonitorDesktop/
With the nvidia proprietary drivers separate xscreens work fine. Could
the problem have something to do with the "modesetting" driver?
Please check out below the xorg.conf and Xorg.0.log files (no Xorg.1.log
present)

Sampsa
