Apparently I wasn't clear enough with my instructions. We need the
measured battery voltage under load here and the value the UPS is
reporting at the same time. There probably won't be much of a
difference for the float (fully charged) voltage, but there will be

unacceptable utility voltage rate of change
...PC devices reports: "unacceptable utility voltage rate of change".
I believe it has something to do with input voltage fluctuating too fast maybe even beneath or over the input voltage thresholds.
Should I worry about this?
should I measure input voltage? (I suppose I'd need more than multimeter readings. Maybe an oscilloscope or a multimeter that can record statistics? - I'm no expert in this field...)

MGE EllipseMAX 1500 shuts down after a few hours
I have taken out the batteries and measured them with a multimeter.
They put out 13V (they are rated 12V 9Ah).
Putting them back again and disconnecting the UPS from the mains it is
kept on, powering all the connected devices.
The shutdowns only occur when the UPS is being monitored. Are you sure
it's a battery problem? Do UPS perform further tests when the...

That's... surprisingly well, assuming your multimeter indicates correct
values. I would have expected values well below 12V

Where to buy a db9 serial port probe
All
I apologize if this is slightly off topic, but I'm in the process of
trying to get NUT working and I've discovered the need for a serial port
probe that is native db9 - native db9 (the thought of hanging a probe plus
two db9-db25 adapters plus a cable on a UPS bothers me greatly). I'm not
looking for anything fancy, just a little gender changer with a buncha
LEDs on it.

output.voltage on a CyberPower CP1350PFCLCD

CyberPower CP1350PFCLCD
The LCD shows the same for input and output, my multimeter also
matches the input voltage.
But nut is giving me different numbers. How do I debug this?
input.voltage: 122.0
output.voltage: 138.0
I still need to check what it does on battery and what the other
readings are. But the voltage stuck out at me.

What sort of load did you have in parallel with the multimeter? (This is why Wolfy mentioned the light bulb: if the battery has developed excessive internal resistance, it will show proper voltages when tested open-circuit, but will read lower with a loa...

by default matches the pins, but maybe, and perhaps maybe your alcatel
did. There will be a tx pair and an rx pair and you need to make sure
they connect to the rx and tx pairs on the digium preferably with the
same polarity. If you are getting no signal I would think its that. You
can use a multimeter to check for voltage on the pins.
Once you get that sorted another catch maybe timing. You will need to
take E1 timing from one or other of the Telco's, with one as the primary
source. If they for some reason aren't synced you will get errors every
so often
Good luck

The 16.0 is a scaled version of the fixed (bogus) 24.0 V reading, similar to this unit:

Fenton PowerPal 660 strange reading and issues...
Hi There, i have a strange problem with a fenton powerpal 660. When you
switch off the power to the UPS (from the wall), the server (IBM xSeries
203) attached to it dies...However, if you unplug the cable from the
server to the UPS and plug it back in again (with the power still out to
the UPS), the server starts up again (set to power up after a power
failure) and runs with no issues. I have

I would doubt it's the pinout but it's possible. I have tried several
cables (cross-over, straight-through, E1) and both didn't work but
surprisingly, they do on the other RAD modem that comes to the same PBX.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a safe way (in software) to determine whether the UPS is not receiving the signal, or whether the PC is not receiving the reply.
If you have a multimeter, you could check pin 9 on the UPS relative to pin 4/7 to see if it is being driven negative.

...: if you had two 12V lead-acid batteries in series, and someone gave you many readings of 27.0V, 26.0V, 25.0V, and 24.0V over time, would you be suspicious that you weren't seeing, say, 26.5V at some point?
Rick's batteries may be low, but I would be surprised if he actually saw 16.0V on a multimeter.
I wish we had a better way to flag these bogus values in NUT, but we're still collecting the data in order to programmatically figure out which models really do have a voltage sensor hooked up to USB, and which ones don't. For now, the next best thing is annotating the DDL entries from us...

the caller hangs up, asterisk treats it as a new call.
I have tested this with asterisk from cvs HEAD as of today, and the
"stable 1.0 version".
zaptel driver is cvs head. Also as of today.
I have also tested with both callprogress = yes and no, but no luck.
I plugged in my multimeter into the phoneline to see what actually
happens here.
This is how a call is signalled in sweden:
1) Line polarity reverses
This is to mark the beginning of the CallerID
2) CallerID is sent using DTMF
Don't know the system used, but I remember seeing a post about it
in the archives.

Ring Voltage Supplied by Wildcard TDM400P REV E/F & AUTO FXS/DPO
Hi;
I'm trying to connect a TDM400P with an FXS module to a Valcom V-9940
Paging adaptor. This port on the TDM400P was connected to a 2500 Set
and was working I just re-connected it to the Valcom (which is known to
work on a Telco POTS line) and its not picking up. The Valcom docs say
it need a minimum of 75 Volts at 20-30 Hz to recognize a call... So the
question is what ring voltage

RJ11 Pin 1 is on the left when looking at the contact points.
Plantronics Pin 1 is on the left when looking at the contacts (through
the plastic sheild)
My multimeter battery is low, so YMMV, but:
Pin's 1,4 are connected with ~160 ohms
Pin's 2,3 are connected with ~1400 ohms
On my Plantronics head set.
