Multilayer mail handling
Hi, I'm wondering what is the correct architecture and configuration to setup a multilayer mail handling? What I have in mind is something more like what we can found in Web platform architectures. 1. First layer does first checks: user authentication and SSL offloading. If all checks are OK request is proxied to layer 2. 2. Second layer, will actually handle the IMAP/POP3 connection pr...

Funky character display in rails / mysql

spatially analyzing multiple data layers
...mosquito traps that were serviced weekly for 23 weeks. The second is dengue incidence data indexed to home address for the same time period. I would like to see if there is a space time relationship between mosquito catch rate and dengue incidence. So far I have been unable to locate a package for multilayer spatial analysis or a space-time analysis that would answer the question. Does anyone have advise on where I should look? All help is greatly appreciated! Cheers Amy [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

VETO! Re: heads up: tcpwrappers support going away
...guration to protect all services based on per IP address authentication. This is not perfect but greatly reduces the area exposed to possible attacks, long before any ssh auth code runs. Removing this functionality creates a lot more headaches for security people and marres opensshs otherwise good, multilayer security architecture. Also, do you think that this change serves the needs of your customers? The first thing I can imagine is that *every* Linux distro on this planet just patches tcpwrappers support back into the code. Bug or not? (PR#8977)
...0129FDDFA Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hi, I am writing this email, because I am not sure if the issue I have discovered is a bug or not. For a few days I have been fiddling around with a small program that calculates the reflectance of multilayer dielectric mirrors (eg. bragg mirrors). It does not really matter what I did, what matters is that I could not do that using R. I had some sample data which I used to test if my R program works correctly (if it fits the data it works). This sample data was for two different incident angles with res...

Help on neural network
Hi all, I am trying to develop a neural network(Multilayer perceptron) with the package 'NEURALNET'. I have some doubts on it, 1. Whether this procedure taken care about categorical input variables- The reason is I could not find any option to describe type of variable in the arguments? 2.The algorithm is providing input variables generalized weig...

Server hangs on CentOS 5.5
Hi -- I'm running a server which is usually stable, but every once in a while it hangs. The server is used as a file store using NFS and to run VMware machines. I don't see anything in /var/log/messages or elsewhere to indicate any problem or offer any clue why the system was hung. Any suggestions where I might look for a clue? -- Michael Eager eager at eagercon.com 1960 Park Blvd.,

an actual hacked machine, in a preserved state
(Sorry, third time -- last one, promise, just giving it a subject line!) OK, a second machine hosted at the same hosting company has also apparently been hacked. Since 2 of out of 3 machines hosted at that company have now been hacked, but this hasn't happened to any of the other 37 dedicated servers that I've got hosted at other hosting companies (also CentOS, same version or almost),
