Multilanguage WineHQ & AppDB?
I think it would be interesting to add multilanguage support to the entire site (spanish is my home language and only the front page appears translated).
For example, the entries and forms for test data in the AppDB could be displayed in the language of each user, so anyone else could understand. This would increase the user base of Wine, as many n...

Multilanguage design
Hello. I have an initiative of multilanguage wiki upgrade. Current version
has no multilanguage user interface which can not be translated. As of
current moment we have many people who use wiki with different languages
but navigation lead them into English sections only. Can we start new
deployment (project) which will be true multilangual....

Solution for multilanguage caption lookup speed improvement?
Hello.
In my Rails app i have a helper method called "translate":
def translate(name)
tran = Translation.find_by_name(name)
...
...
end
As you can see, the method does a lookup in the table "Translation",
where i have an index in the field "name".
This is working well, but in a single page i can have dozens of captions

Multilanguage support
http://www.voip-info.org/tiki-index.php?page=Asterisk+multi-language
By trial and error and a lot of ancient nordic magic (reading the source) I found out
that Asterisk does not look for language-specific sound files with the -cc extension,
cc being country code.
Asterisk looks for files first in a "cc" subdirectory, like "se/vm-login.gsm", then
in the default directory.

strange matching: maybe a multilanguage collation problem?
Hi,
We''re using Ferret in a slightly unorthodox way: We''re indexing a
large (>100,000) list of names of places all around the world. Mostly
we''re quite happy with it, and have been able to graft on our own
particular required functionality with just a little tweaking.
There''s one strange problem, though: We''ve got a place in Cyprus

Rails I18n
I was just wondering about locales and .yml files. Is it better to
store the multilanguage strings in .yml files than in databases? And
if yes, why?
I was also wondering how rails are loading this files (for example, I
have 4 languages in my web app, each has her own .yml file, will my
rails app loads all the files in ram and then it will call each
variable inside my web app? Or someth...

changes in CVS
for those of you who are compiling from CVS, you may have noticed
some changes lately that break backward compatibility... I am
doing some experiments on the rice coder again. if they turn out
to be significantlt better I may keep the format changes,
otherwise I'll revert back to the previous format.
FLAC 0.8 seems pretty robust now so once I get the Winamp plugins

Firefox 38 and Older TLS sites
All,
Red Hat released the source code for Firefox 38. We have (or willbe
today) releasing this for CentOS-5, CentOS-6, and CentOS-7.
It does not, by default, connect to https sites with TLS less than 1.2.
This means it will not connect to sites on CentOS-5, for example ..
there are many others.
In any event, here is a wiki article that explains potential issues and
workarounds:

...ing project is the query parser. I could imagine
improving it, by adding some natural language proceccing to avoid the
need of binary keywords, as well as using semantic databases like
WordNet to improve matching by normalizing the sematics of a query term.
Of course, this is not an easy task, and multilanguage support is quite
hard, but anyway, I think its worth working on it, starting with some
special cases. A natural language date parser, like chronic for ruby
could be a usefull feature, when search for date ranges in a chronical
document archive, like blogs. This is just an example.

9. Eliminate Perl
Get rid of all use of perl within R. The parts
of R that use perl have not changed much probably
because its too onerous to have to deal with a
complex multilanguage setup. Eliminating perl might
speed up improvements in those areas. This mostly
affects the package buildin gprocess which could
then be rehosted within R as a package building
package.

Ruby on Rails mailer
Today I made a first attempt to make use of ruby mailer. A volunteer
fills out a form and the information is then sent to an administrator.
I generated a mailer called notifier and added the following:
class Notifier < ActionMailer::Base
def volunteer_signup(volunteer, sent_at = Time.now)
@subject = ''A new volunteer has signed up''
