nmbd multihomed registration request must be directed at a WINS server error
Hi there,
I just got a new machine with Redhat Enterprise Workstation and samba
3.0.0-14 pre-installed. I am trying to connect it to my existing network
which has a redhat v8 samba v2 PDC controlling 16 or so win2k and winxp
machines.
In the nmbd log I get this error 3 times every 5 seconds or so:
nmbd/nmbd_packets.c:process_nmb_request(1448)

Multihomed AC DC Server and subnets
Hello:
I am currently planning to divide our network in smaller subnets. Our
central server is a Samba AD DC File Server also acting as DC.
My plan is subnet our current network, add a new interface for each
subnet in the Samba File Server and configure it to listen in all new
interfaces.
Questions:
1 - Does this multihomed configuration have any drawback, specifically
because AD relies

GSSAPI, Kerberos and multihomed hosts

Does GSS_C_NO_NAME relate to this bug (addressless tickets)?

Multihoming & routing & NAT problem
...ter using CONNMARK/MARK, and connections go in and out of the correct interface when the destination is outside the 100.100.251.216/29 network)
(Note: I don''t know if the returning connections are SNAT''d back to 200.200.64.139)
So...
Is there a way around this? i.e. so that the multihoming still works?
It seems that normal routing to the 100.100.251.216/29 network takes precedence over my connection marked rule, that would instruct the packet to be sent out over the correct interface (and maybe therefore SNAT''d correctly too).
Not sure what''s going on. Can anyone...

Multihomed DHCP and PXE?
I am not sure if anyone has done this but I am assuming it has been done
before. Setting up a multihomed DHCP server accross multiple network
blocks to issue PXE/BOOTP setup actions? Some background, I have
successfully setup PXE to work with a cross over cable (first setup and
testing env.), moved cient/server to switch and configured boot menu,
images etc. and now after setting up the

Multihomed router problems
Hi all, i''m new at LARTC, and after reading the docs I found no solution to my
problem ...
On one side I have eth0 conected to the LAN, on the other side I have eth1
conected to a switch and to 3 DSL routers with 3 diferent providers, and also
eth2 conected to a cisco 2600 conected to a LDMS line.
I have readed the larct docs about multihomed conections to internet, but I''m

Re; Multihomed DHCP and PXE?
That is what I thought, but just to clarify:
I am using static dhcp hosts in the dhcpd.conf and our network config.

192.168.17.0/24

Squid - Load Balancing Multihomed Linux Router
Hi All,
In a scenario, where a LAN is being provided internet connectivity
through multiple ISPs terminated at a Load Balanced Multihomed Linux
Router as described in LARTC HowTo, how would the traffic distribution
affected if there is a squid based transparent proxy for the LAN''s web
traffic on the same system (i.e. the load balanced router itself). The
recent squid versions have

[PATCH] Allow GSSAPI to work with multihomed hosts
I saw some past chatter on this in the list archives, but here is
another stab and another rational.
This patch follows a similar patch to openssh in that it allows any
key in the specified keytab to match the incoming host key. This is
necessary for multihomed hosts. See:
https://bugzilla.mindrot.org/show_bug.cgi?id=928
IMAP/POP seem to be a strong candidate to be multihomed because they

Hai,
>Those machines need a working Kerberos login via multiple hostnames

looks to me a bit overkill, but you wil have your reasons this a setup like this..
so.. you can try this..
asumming this :
REALM=MY.REALM.TLD
DNSDOMAIN=my.domain.tld
and a serviceaccount the spn's.

Browsing with duplicate names in multiple workgroups/subnets and multihome machines
You can see by the subject I've got an ugly problem. Even though I don't
have a Samba server anywhere near the network in question, nobody
understands browsing as well as the folks on the Samba team. :-)
Here's the situation: I've got two workgroups, FLINTSTONE and RUBBLE
which are on physically separate networks. FLINTSTONE has a Windows 2003
Active Directory domain
