reencode scripts if anyone is interested
...ranscoding some time soon. What's a good mp3 decoder to use for that?
I think lame and xmms both use the mpg123 engine. The xmms plugin
seems to handle odd MP3s a bit better than mpg123 or LAME, so I'd
probably think about stealing that one. But now I'm thinking there
must be some nice multiformat audio library around to decode most
things into PCM... will look around.

Problems streaming Ogg Vorbis with icecast2+ices
Hello,
Perhaps it is a typical question but i've got stuck. I'm using icecast2+ices
to stream some ogg vorbis files or voice_in_life (/dev/dsp) over the
network/internet.
All seems to work fine, for example using:
ogg123 http://127.0.0.1:8000/mount
works :). And:
ogg123 http://my_internet_ip:8000/mount
works too from another pc over internet and far away :).
Using mplayer works fine

Check out GStreamer @ http://gstreamer.net. So far I've just read the docs and
haven't actually coded with it yet, but it seems infinitely customizable and
supports a bunch of codecs :)

Poor programming support
Ogg format is great, but the programming support is so awful! After three
days, I still haven't managed to add a simple playback function to my
software. I know I can make it with a couple of more days, but it isn't
really worth it. BTW, I'm an very experienced programmer.
