Printing Errors
I've been running RedHat 5.0 and Samba flawlessly for over 6 months now. I had to reboot the server and now I can't seem to print. When I use the "Printtool" to send a test text or postscript job to the printer, I get the following error: Unable to print to HP4000 Error Message: lpr: connect: no such file or directory jobs queued, but cannot start daemon The printer is set up

Don't know if that will cause any problems. but it made the file close properly when someone gets out of it. more printing + general domain advice
...nough windows server stuff to be dangerous. The current w2k server I do not what to change at all because it is dedicated to running one piece of software that we can't get support on if we add to it. Will I get less network traffic on a domain rather that a workgroup? Thanks. Tony McGrew WWW.Multicam.com -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

All of my print queues from cups update my windows boxes about every 3 seconds. Maybe someone else can tell you exactly how to make it work but it does work. Tony McGrew www.multicam.com Hi list, I used to have a novell print server; at the moment we consider to migrate to a samba (2.2.5-124) controlled printserver using cups (1.1.15-69) on Suse 8.1. Problem is: Using Novell the print queue you see on the (win-) client is automatically updated every few seconds. Using Samba it...

SWAT
I was playing with this on my test machine, (redhat 5.2, samba 2.0.3) worked great, and I was really impressed. So I decided to install this on my office machine. (redhat 4.2, samba 2.0.3) and the only significant difference is that on the office machine, I use encrypted passwords. I cannot get swat to authenticate on the second machine. That is, no matter what account, password combination

Print Job Notification
Can anyone suggest a way to have a notification after a print job has completed. I currently have this as my print command: lpr -r -P%p %s; csh -c 'echo \"%J has started printing on %S\" | /usr/bin/smbclient -U %L -M %m -I %I' & It kind of does what I want, but notice that the message says that "Job has STARTED printing on Printer".
