Synchonisation between NIS and encrypted SMBPASSWD

Hello, does somebody have a tool to convert a /etc/passwd to a smbpasswd with getting a valid Lan Manager and NT hash. or does anybody have a trick, how I can synchronise the /etc/passwd with the smbpasswd without changing a unix passwd twice (passwd,smbpasswd). Samba 2.2.8 is failing on change machine account password

I've noticed that a few systems that I've upgraded to Samba 2.2.8 are not able to change the machine account password. I have security = domain and I am seeing entries like this in the log. [2003/03/27 14:22:23, 1, pid=10302] smbd/service.c:(636) le21pai-1 (47.142.162.19) connect to service export as user wcitiadm (uid=201361, gid=4785) (pid 10302) [2003/03/27 14:22:24, 0, pid=10302]

W2K and Linux ADS?

Hello I want to make a Linux Samba Server with an Active Directory on it for replacing a W2K Active Directory Server! All Windows Client should have access same before the only difference should be the linux server and not any more a W2K server from microsoft! Can someone help me with links and tips how to make that and have someone make this implementation linux active directory samba server

Hi I am running a Samba PDC and a Samba member server in his domain. The member server acts as a file server with unix acl's working. Is it possible to get these acl's working under samba to? The docs seem to say, that acl's are only possible if samba is a memberserver in an NT-Domain using winbind. In my case the PDC acts as a LDAP Server and the Member server is gets the unix
