Samba PDC _and_ Samba member?
...trust Samba. That's my
problem.
I have the PDC setup to automatically create the machine trust accounts
(using "add user script"). It creates them just fine, at least for my
Win2k desktops. It seems to do it for the Samba member, too as I get
a positive result:
% smbpasswd -j mtlaurel -r mtlpdc -U root
Password:
Joined domain MTLAUREL.
However, when I go to the desktop and try to browse the member server,
I get a login/passwd prompt and I supply answers and the login fails.
Looking at the log (level 10) on the member server I see:

Domains: Pros and Cons?
...ls can
help me determine whether I should do this or not.
We have three offices connected by a Checkpoint VPN, plus
people "on the road" using their SecureClient tool. We
want everyone to be able to get to all the Samba servers
from wherever they are.
Here's a sample topology:

print -- a samba server running on a linux box with CUPS for
printing

security = domain does not work
...2.6 and 8
I have a Samba PDC setup. I can get my Win2k desktops to login and
access the PDC just fine. I setup another Samba on our Unix print server
that I wan't to use "security = domain". It seems to be running in
"security = user" mode.
I did the "smbpasswd -j mtlaurel -r mtlpdc" just fine, so the PDC knows
about the print server, but the clients are prompted for a login and
passwd when trying to access the print server. If I create a suitable
smbpasswd file, I can login, so I see that the print server is in
"user" mode.
How can I tell using smbst...

Won't %L work anymore?
I am trying to run multiple instances of samba on the same unix host. This
is being done so that I can functionally breakdown the usage into, for
example, a "finance" server and an "engineering" server. This is not
based upon the client or the user, but based upon the virtual server.
My first attempts were a real problem in that, though the config file

Can't print duplex
...each printer setup on each client must be
done by hand. Once we say that the print has a duplexer, the users can
print double sided.
I have setup a new server (print) that will only be doing the print services.
It is setup the "new way" using 2.2.3a:
[global]
workgroup = MtLaurel
netbios name = PRINT
server string = PRINT [Print Server on Chuckie]
encrypt passwords = yes
log level = 0
preferred master = False
local master = No
domain master = False
utmp = Yes
guest account = ftp
