MTFTP support in PXElinux??
Hiya,
Just joined the list and started using pxelinux. Very cool product!!! I searched
the, 8+ MB, archives looking for multicast entries. I know that the pxelinux
page says that the support of mtftp in pxelinux isn't in the works but I'm not
sure how old/relavant that comment is. I have noticied some comments from H.P.A.
describing the difficulties in doing MTFTP.
Are there any plans to support MTFTP? The reason I ask is that I would really
like to be able to serve tftp via multicast....

pxelinux web page question...
Hi-
On the pxelinux web page here:
http://syslinux.zytor.com/pxe.php
Mr. Anvin says the following:
" PXELINUX does not support MTFTP, and I have no immediate plans of
doing so. It is of course possible to use MTFTP for the initial boot, if
you have such a setup. MTFTP server setup is beyond the scope of this
document. "
I am curious as to the possibility of 'mtftp for the initial boot',
which I assume to mean...

pxelinux efi64 boot woes on hyper-v gen 2
Gene,
As it happened I started working on this again just as you mailed me.
It appears that PXE-E99 may also be related to MTFTP part of the PXE spec. IBM also says it has something to do with jumbo frames. I tried setting PXE.mtcp-ip to 0.0.0.0 to disable it but still no joy.
The bootfile size shows up as zero because that relates to "option boot-size" in dhcp and doesn't seem to be the problem

I saw it in IRC.

Strange. Only the ACK and REPLY packets have your TFTP's IP address.
This sounds like we'll likely need to force an option in to tell it
where to find the Altiris server.
Perhaps also try -o 43.x=01:04:0a:d7:90:3c:ff (which will set the
mtftp option) in addition to -W.
http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH157601 didn't seem of any use.
Does the Altiris client do some sort of DHCP on its own? A packet
capture of the client might be useful here.

Luke: It's trivial Arch 9 isn't used here yet, it's a typo it only ever sent out the Arch 7 one. I am using wireshark to confirm what the DHCP is sending out and receiving in both cases.
The problem PXE-E99 is reported to be caused by MTFTP Failure (Dell our vendor & others) or Jumbo Frames on the Lan (IBM/Microsoft blogs). A different error usually reports incompatible DHCP options.
Ady: Regarding the "ISC DHCP 3.1" syntax, you "think" it works?

client hangs on pxelinux
Hi,
my client pc hangs on pxelinux before starting to fetch the linux
kernel. It hangs after printing the ip information row. No traffic is
observed at this point on the network. The pxelinux is transferred to
the client through a tftp server and with no problems.
What options do I have to proceed from this point and try to find out
where the problem is?
Thanks,
Firas.
